D70 Overexposing - Why?

My D70 has recently started to overexpose shots when set to any of the pre-set functions. (Auto/sports/etc)

It will take one or two OK then over expose a couple.

In the pre-set sports mode It is terrible! Slow shutter speeds making a mess of everything.

Using the manual set up it is OK but this is not ideal

Has anyone else encountered this?

sounds like bad news I'm affraid. Apparently the over exposing issue is a pre-cusrer to the BGLOD or blinking green light of death as it's known. Google search will reveal lots on this issue that affected some early D70 models. =(

I'd suggest doing a manual reset just to make sure something it's not something else, (fingers crossed) otherwise I'd get onto Nikon support.

Looks like that could be the problem. I got the camera from Conns about a month after it launched here.

Also noticed that the screen on the reverse of the camera flickers now and again, and turns itself off momentarily.

Only taken 7000 shots with it and its regularly cleaned by the good folks at Conns (FOC!)

Will contact Nikon in the UK tomorrow, hopefully get it back sooner rather than later!
