Oo ar, can you register online if you're going to Trinity in October?

Also, I want to get my s*it together before I go, you know, reading lists and lecturers and all that. I dropped out a couple of years ago , and I found the whole system quite confusing, which didn't help. seeing as how I'm the lazy type. I was never notified of stuff, and only knew what was going on through other students.

You get notified in first year, and then are expected to turn up after that. Simple as!

Online registration might be used in 2007/8, but I think they'll still be using the old human method this time around. First years register in Freshers' Week, second + years register in the weeks following (and I think PGs are different - saw some with pink cards before Freshers' Week).

Lecturers - their contact details are on http://peoplefinder.tcd.ie. Some are terrible at getting back to you, so you might have to hound them. Plus if you e-mail them now, some mightn't check their tcd e-mails until October, so be warned.

actually, as an aside - anyone know what colour the cards'll be this year?

They've been (help to add to this)...

    2005/6: Pink
    2004/5: Orange
    2003/4: Blue
    2002/3: Green

I think they may have been silver before that, or else the year before. I'm sure someone can help fill in the gaps.

I was there in the pink years. That was a shock.

Cheers for the info Myth, I'm notoriously impractical, I have some kind of block when it comes to anything involving organisation.

should be about two weeks or so before college starts, no?

Fairly self-descriptive. You'll get info in the post, so relax - it's still August, and Freshers' Week isn't until the 2nd of October!

Indy or Ross would do, if they're floating about somewhere :P think they'd both be 1999/2000 :)

til then: http://www.tcd.ie/orientation/week03.php is the best way to go really i guess.

Have a re-read of the thread. They're talking about the colour of cards. As in our student cards.

I personally loved the pink. I found it quite humorous. Wish I had been around for the purple years.

The pink card was my favourite of the four I was around for.

On another note... fees. I got my letter today, it was €800 + €8 USI. Am I imagining it, or was it closer to €900 last year?

Well, the registration fee was €775 last year, so I'd say you were imagining it.

thought it was 770 with the 8 euro USI, but my memories fairly shot these days. not a bad hike tbh, was thinking it might be worse. UCD stung with the registration fee this year i hear?

You talking about the extra €78.50 that they have to pay?

Ha! Trinity's cheaper! Thats ironic - considering how we are seen as the 'posh' college!

They have a levy which'll pay for their second student centre, or for an extension, or something like that.

lol thats as bad as tcd charging students years ago for a sports centre that hasn't opened yet, years after they all left..

    OK.. I have question now.

At my above registration time above I'll be in Denmark (doing my final year project). How do I register?

Me and europerson were on the porch at the opening of the doors last year. They initially refused us access because "the BESS faculty doesn't exist anymore". Good thing we persuaded them otherwise, or there would have been a whole lot of turn-aways and re-registrations!
