Borderline classic Big Frenchie! I went through a period of mild lust in the early 90s for a dark red V6 Exclusive (?) spec model I saw quite often in Wexford. Huge leather armchairs, big complex looking dashboard. Mmmmm!

That was a fad was'nt it? The R11 also chatted. The Montego/Maestro had a similair feature which gave up the ghost after 6 months. Early days of LED displays all of which faultered.

I had a talking Renault 11, it was like having a nagging wife sitting next to you. As it got older the thing used to talk flat out...nearly drove me mad, nice French accent though.

Judging by comments on carsurvey.org the most owners love theri 25s. Engines and manual gearboxes seem to be very reliable and long lasting. Small electrical problems and auto gearbox problems are common but owners seem to brush over these problems as they like the rest of the car so much. And the talking dashboards give some extra character :)

Personally I have spent many kms being driven in R25s around france and can see the appeal. The ones I was in were mainly diesel models which were never sold here or in the UK. The petrol engines that were sold here gave relatively good perfromance as the body had good aerodynamics and the car was light for its size. Economy was also very good.
