my gf used visiondirect.com twice (she buy a years supply from them) and found them excellent. Way cheaper than buying here in Ireland. However, she is now considering getting laser done, as she is tired of wearing specs or contacts all the time. She is -4.75

I've heard the mater private is excellent - not the cheapest thing to get done but there's good tax breaks on it - i think you get about half the cost back in tax credits although i'm not 100% sure of the exact amount.

I use www.getlenses.com - are an Irish company that work out of Blackrock. They are really nice if you have problems etc...

Their delivery is free also to anywhere in Ireland (that includes if you order solution - which is so expensive in shops.) and received in about 3 or so days at max.

plus they will match any other UK or Irish website.

We have just started looking into this - she is talking to http://www.optilase.com (free consultation) to see if she is a good candidate for the procedure. They charge €995 per eye, and Vivas insurance would cover half of it. There is another place in Belfast, but we are also looking into getting this done else where (outside Europe, nothing confirmed yet.)

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread! Vision Direct, daily focals, a years supply costs her around 210 euros approx, including postage.

I've been using www.postoptics.co.uk for a few years, think it's free delivery too.

I use visiondirect.com (Been a while since I shopped about though)

They send me the exact same lenses that I was originaly supplied with via specsavers but for half the price.
Of all the things I buy on the internet they are by far the best savings to date :)

I wne tinto specsavers once to start using contatcs, teacher wasnt very good at all and didnt seem interested at all in me trying to get used to them and trying to advise me.... First day I put them on on my own I had difficulty getting them out, went back to specsavers and never went to get another teaching lesson, really put me off them...

I am again considering getting them, sorry for being off topic but do they get easier and less irriating to put in?

Second question, again sorry for being off topic but does laser eye surgery hurt at all?
Again for for off topic post:p

Yeah they do get much easier. It's a weird sensation at the start to be poking at your eyeball, I tended to be too gentle, afraid that I would damage myself.

By now, it just seems to be a very automatic, natural thing to do.

You've got lots of replies here and I don't know how good they are but i've used this swedish company for the following reasons:
    1) They don't ask for a prescription
    2) I paid 28EU + 5EU (P&P) for 6th month supply of monthlies for both eyes
    3) I got it delivered within a week via regular post since the lenses are small.

The lenses are the exact same brand as the Specs Savers, only the Specs Savers try to conceal that from you so you keep coming back. They put the contacts in their own boxes, peel back the sticker on the lense case and find out. I'm happy with my lenses.

    Beats Specs Fleecers any day.

    Gluck
