My mates Pc motherboard died,so I got a second hand replacement. I replaced old with second hand, fired it up,fans started and everything but no Post/Beep.....

Would this indicate that the second hand motherboard is dead also or maybe Cpu? Should I hear a beep if Cpu is dead and motherboard is working. Should I hear something other than the HD starting up...

Is there any LED indicator on the motherboard? There should be one short beep when the computer finishes the POST test.

No....None,its an old Socket A motherboard.

I would double and triple check every connection. Are you sure the old RAM and other things are compatible with the 2nd hand motherboard?

Yeah both ram are 133mhz,checked manual on Cd and it supports 100/133.Also noticed it was Agp1 and my mate has a G-force 3 t200 so I took that out and used onboard video instead.Checked all cables also.....Not a beep or post.MB looks fine though,no popped capacitors. Well I'll have to try another cpu in it,if I can get my hands on one.Anyone got a loan of a 1ghz duron:D . Or could try mine out?

    you're talking about this one

what CPU do you have (edit: choose here)? Try a CMOS reset first, then look up on what the FSB for your CPU is, more than likely it was probably set too high or something. Can you get into your BIOS? If so, change the FSB to something like 133Mhz DDR (266Mhz) and try that.

EDIT: This might seem a bit basic, but are you sure the speaker is actually working and is it plugged into the mobo right.

No cant even get a post up or anything, didnt think about resetting Cmos will try that tomorrow actually.Yes thats the one I bought. Well speaker afaik was working before his old MB fried. I'll recheck cables also with speakers.

Tits, look what I just noticed in manual.....Cpu currently supported by this MB: Duron: 550~850 MHz, FSB: 200 MHz. But by the looks of it on website they have a bios update that will support it..
