    I think that it had been known for some time that ITV were going to sell their stake. Hopefully TV3 will be forced to develop it's own identity now instead of just being ITV Ireland simulcasting half of the ITV shows.

    I would imagine also that RTE will be trying very hard now to get Coronation Street back.

    I believe that TV3 have the broadcast rights for that and Emmerdale until next year, at which time they will be up for tender again. I'd say RTE will have a fair go at getting them back too.

    Eastenders is not a patch on either Emerdale or Corrie.

    Without ITV programming - TV3 is pretty weak.
