    I would dump the following:
    -pillow cover
    -rain jacket
    -water bottle
-mouthwash (just because it's not really that necessary and bringing lots of this type of stuff will quickly weigh your bag down.)

I can't think of anything you might have forgotten. By the way, I think it was me who suggested the duct tape, and I'm am absolutely not taking the p!ss. It is sooooooo useful. I used almost an entire roll in 9 weeks just there.

Out of that list of dumping stuff I would keep the raincoat, the weather isnt that fantastic over that way right now.

Def bring a pillow case, some of these places its obv they havent been washed before you.
    Are you bringing sleepbags?
Also, an handy item I found was bungy cords...get the ones with the hooks on the ends, as they are useful to strap down the straps on your backpack when checking it onto the plane so they dont get caught anywhere and rip off! Afterwards they can be used as a make shift washing line which is really handy!
and travel wash for your clothes as they get very dirty very quickly when youre travelling!

  • a few plastic bags, like a small roll of black sacks, in case you get clothes soaked, you'll wanna keep them separate from your dry ones. Also, you can use a black sack as a raincoat and ditch that...

    It's not cool, but it's inter-railing spirit!!

Don't bring jeans, they take ages to dry if they get wet, get a pair of fast drying trousers.
Change your shaving foam to gel or oil, much smaller or do it like I do and don't shave at all.
Take a combined shower gel and shampoo.
Bring your ATM card, especially in Germany they won't take your VISA card everywehere.
Bring a sleeping bag liner (the silk ones are very small and light), you'll never knowhow the beds in youir hostel look like.
Bring condoms, you'll never know whom you'll meet.

we're not bringing sleeping bags. we will be bringing the liners so we wont have to sleep on any dodgy sheets.

    thanks for the suggestions.

one thing i did forget to put down is toilet paper.

I really found my sleeping bag very useful. I used in on every train because it was so comfortable. Plus, if the sheets look dodgy, there's no problem. And if you have one with a hood, then you don't need to worry about pillow cases either.

    A few things I forgot.
    Bring
    • locks, to lock the lockers in the hostel.
    • Ear plugs

And share things, no need for everyone to carry his own Showergel, Toothpaste, chargers, etc.

  • Insect Repellant also.

We got absolutely bitten to death while we were out one night in France. Ended up in a visit to the hospital as one of the guys was bitten on his eyelid.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you plan on camping, bring something nice and cushiony to sleep on. It's only natural that you will say to yourself, "Ah, I'm sure it will be grand". I want to to think of me as your hips/neck/back are crying out for a mattress.:p

One thing I forgot to mention: I don't see mp3 player on your list but if you are bringing one, you should definitely get some portable speakers. Adds a bit of atmosphere for boozing in your room or when you're on a train.

ya thanks. we're not camping. we were going for 3/4 weeks but we had to cut it back to 2 and a half weeks so we decided to hostel it for that long.

as for the mp3 im bringing my phone(sony ericsson k750i) ive got a 2gb card so i can put plenty on to keep me entertained. ive got the 5 series of futurama and training day on it as well as 250 songs. the quality of the video is watchable but the screen is tiny!

i was going to bring my psp but then id have my phone, camera and psp with me. thats about €1000 worth and i really dont wanna do that!

im still not sure about a sleeping bag. i know what you mean about using it on the trains etc so i might be bringing it after all
