i know this may have been answere or discussed before, but I would like to get a recent opinion on the gym Fitness Dock in Dublin asap.

I'm supposed to be visiting it tomorrow sometime to check it out?

I was a member there when I worked in the city centre, left in February. I'm not a mad gym-head, so maybe my opinion's not experienced. It's generally a nice gym, friendly staff, nice changing rooms (on the third floor - there are ones on the second floor which are small and crowded).

I couldn't help but feel that they were a little lazy about upkeep though - often a machine would be out of order, or missing a pad or something for a few weeks, and I remember at one point the only water cooler on the gym floor was out of order for nearly two weeks.
In the evenings and mornings (8am to 9am) it gets quite busy, particularly in the weights section, so if you have a set routine you're better off going just slightly outside of peak times. All weekend, and early morning (6.30am) and up until 4.30pm its very quiet.

I never used any of the classes, so I couldn't comment.

I've been a member of Fitness Dock for a few years and I think it's a great spot. There's a really friendly atmosphere - the instructors are great, very friendly and you could have a laugh with them. they don't take themselves too seriously.

On the downside, I have to agree about machines not being fixed very often - they tend to sit there with an 'Out of Order' sign for weeks....but I am usually there when its quiet enough, so it wouldnt affect me too much. It's always very clean there, changing rooms are fine. Even though its no longer very close to where I live, I still like it there and wouldnt change. Classes are superb too - a great variety and high standard.
Good luck with the induction - be pretty clear about what you want, its the only way you'll get a good programme for yourself. And, make sure you go for the re-assessment in 6/8 weeks - it keeps the motivation up!

I've been a member for close to 6 months now. Good selection of weights and machines and the instructors know what they're talking about; my only major complaint is that the men's changing room f**king stinks! Why on earth would put a carpet in an area where dripping wet blokes are going to be walking around???
