Nikon D2Xs - To buy or not to buy

    Hi All,

Have a little spare cash around these days which is nice so was thinking of trading in my D70 and skipping the D200 and choosing the D2xs instead

I'm getting more into sports photography and have had several photos published in magazines and newspapers.

Still very much an amateur but thinking about getting serious.

Is this a good camera? Reviews seem ok but if any boardsies use it I would welcome their comments.

    Ta.

Seems to be aimed at the sports photgrapher from anything I read about. What sports are you covering, any pics?

Have done golf mainly and also some GAA.

Just take the pix and submit them with a caption.

They tend to get published as I don't charge for them and golf is kind of specialised.

I'm no expert by any means, but as a nikon user, I know that the D2H is aimed at sports photographers (8 fps for 50 shots) and is considerably cheaper than the D2X. Although in saying that, the D2X looks like a fantastic all round pro camera! Best of luck with whatever you buy.

I suppose the main thing will be the fact that it is weather sealed? (I think) and better build quality.

been using the D1X for the past week,it's a bit old but still in a different class to the sub €1000 dslr's around, the feel, the metering everything really is near perfect,i'd buy this over a d70
    it's a heavy bugger though
anyway if nikon have kept the general layout/build the same then i'd say you can't go wrong with the D2x!

The D2Xs is quite a nice camera. The D200 has similar weather sealing and build quality however. Still, the integrated vertical grip and build quality is nice, and feature wise, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong.

Do you already own some kick-ass fast Pro lenses such as the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR ?

If not it might be worth considering spending your budget on a D200 and one of them.

It would give far better results than a D2X and a consumer grade lens

The D2 series must be near end of life too
