Yesterday i decided to give Green Joker Poker a go to try a few of their satellites and to take a break from PaddyPower. I had to set up a Blue Square Account which i did and then request help on GJP to link the account with i also then. i then lodged 150euro into my account and had 5 or 6 hours online. Tried to log back in to GJP today and i got a message saying there was a problem with my bluesquare account so i tried to log in there and i got a login failed message. I contacted customer serivice and they told me that my account is blocked until i provide them with ID and they require a copy of my passport, a photocopy of the front and back of my credit card and a utility bill with my address on it. All seems a bit overboard as i have poker accounts with 7 or 8 networks and sportsbooks with 3 and have never been asked for this kind of info. Has anyone else have this info requested after they linked their accounts? Maybe Tom or Mike can let me know if its all necessary..Thanks

A lot of sites are doing this now. I have had to send my details to Party & Mansion recently. It is basically to stop fraud. You need ID to open a bank account - a poker account is basically the same thing, they are holding your money. However I can get some of this overridden if I know you personally which I believe I do if this is who I think it is. Send me a PM to confirm your name and I will sort it.

This seems to be a new request by the Credit Card companies. I've had to send details to several sites I joined in the last 12 months. I've also had my card LOCKED by AIB. The first time they had the courtesy to phone me and "query" some of my transactions. "did you make a payment to such and such a site on such a date?" and "did you make a payment to ....."
The second time they locked it, they did NOT have the courtesy to call. Instead I found out standing in front of a que of 10 people in Homebase when the cashier was (discreetly) telling me my card had been declined. I phoned AIB (still at the cashier) and was told my card was locked again for security reasons and "did you make a payment to BlueSq. (incidentally) on such a date?" She unlocked the card there and then but needless to say I was raging:mad:  they hadn't called me first. What this thread about again....oh yea.

Verifying your details by email ,phone call too sometimes, seems to be the norm now when you open a new account. If your worried about security then block out the middle 8 digits with paint shop or similar on the scan of your card. Do it on the scan of the back of your card aswell as you can see them clearly because of the embossing.

Thanks Scotty. If i need to send all the above info, i'll block out the digits alright and the security code at the back. Just got a surprise when i logged in to be told it was blocked. When i mentioned on the phone that i might close my account instead of providing all the info he said that just giving the passport copy might be enough. All the hassle just to try and qualify for the upcoming GJP festival in November! BTW thanks Mike for your help

Why don't the sites ask for I.D. verification before they let you lodge the money?
