    Just a quick question,
Whats the difference between these two CPU's?

    Intel® Pentium® D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.40GHz, 800MHz fsb, 2x2MB cache) add € 0.00 Intel® Viiv™ technology - Intel® Pentium® D 945 DualCore(3.40GHz,800MHz,2x2MBcache) [Included in Price]
    Special Offer

On the top spec dell 9150 gives a choice of either of these. No charge to choose either.

    Cheers

Nothing as far as I know. Think it's just a marketing tool by Intel. If u get Viiv one you need to get Media Centre XP. Otherwise you can get Home or Pro. But the chips are the same.

On a related note: Dell have revamped their site a fair bit. Looks nice.

    Yeah the site looks good...

So I suppose it's just a personal choice wheather you prefer XP or XP media centre then?

I won't go into it here, but they have a cracker of a system for around €1500 if you spec the mega multimedia monster 9150 system. Thats where I saw the cpu choice.

Yea, they're prob clearing out their stock of 9150's as the 9200's have arrived. 2300 for the conroe system I spec'd.

Viiv itself isn't a CPU, its a marketing name for a combination of intel parts, much like Centrino = Pentium M + intel motherboard chipset + intel wireless.
