Right, I've a windows 98 IBM that can't connect to the internet since I've installed AVG,Search and Distroy.
Was on the net last nite, with new computer, and found WinSock which looked like just what was required.
I downloaded it, extracted it and burned the extracted file onto a cd.

I ran the cd on the IBM and got the following:
    error starting program
A required DLL file .MSVBVM60.DLL was not found

Any ideaS of how to get Winsock running on the IBM?

Download it from here. Stick it in the c:\windows\system32 folder.

thanks, done as outlined and ran Winsock. I has improved things, in that I can at least download somewhat. Before when it connected nothing would come through. It's still v poor though. I had no problems when the computer was infected with spyware but when I used Adaware and S&D I couldn't download a thing. Is their anyway to reset the internet connection/I E so as to fix this ?

If the PC was riddled with crapware, removing it can sometimes leave it very messed up. The crap is gone but the system files it's corrupted remains. Best bet is to do a clean install of Windows on the PC.
