Are my DVD's copies

In June I purchased a few boxsets of The Soprano's from a UK ebay seller

    Link here
    http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41588&item=9141128606

They are of perfect quality and I can't fault them.

However, I've recently noticed some errors on the boxes and in the text on the DVD's.

    For example:
    Tony'b instead of Tony's
    seiing instead of seeing
    dias instead of dies
    There are a few others

It's just poor grammer. I can't imagine the film studio would release boxsets with errors like these so are my DVD's copies?

Also, the seller listed the item location as the UK but the DVD's were posted from Asia-I remember it took ages to deliver
The seller didn't explain this to me and it left me liable to customs duty if they were stopped

What part of Asia were they sent from? If it's Malaysia I'd say they're copies alright.

Edit: Also, given that Play.com are selling one season for roughly the same price you paid for 5, you either got one hell of a bargain or else a bunch of good copies!

Yeah, definetly copies. If you wanted to be sure you could try and copy them, which will probably work without the need to decrypt them as copies have the decryption already removed.

They also appear to be multi-region which would also suggest to me copies (correct me if I'm wrong but encrypted dvd's aren't multi-region).....plus the price and the fact they are from Asia, dvd piracy capital of the world.

    Nothing wrong with them mind.

I have them same ones, there chinese copies alright, but quality is fine although season 4 is a bit dodgy in parts.
Still not bad for the price, although the originals are now €30 a season (still 30x5) so we didnt do too badly.

Deffo copies but if you're not happy get onto Paypal.
Might have a problem after 2 months though.
I'd always be wary of buying any Dvd's on Ebay or the like but if they were located in UK and with good feedback, you'd imagine they would be okay?

Why does Ebay allow this carry on of saying they are in the UK but when they are really in asia? I thought that was against their rules?

fakes no doubt about it. I picked up 100+ dvds in shanghai, about 50cent for most with covers but no box. Plenty of spelling mistakes all over the place. I you put them in a PC you will probably find they are only single layer ~4.7gb while originals are dual layer ~8gb.

I got ones that were not even in the cinema yet, the description on the backs was all over the place, like a translation of a translation, crazy english

You were lucky to get them back into the country.
Heard about somebody who brought back 50 dvd's from Asia, got stopped by customs and they took them all off him.

    Op here

Only just found out that Disc 2 Season 4 contains the 3 episodes of Disc 2 Season 5.

So I'm missing 3 episodes and have duplicates of another three.

Feel badly let down and won't be using ebay for DVD's again.

Besides Play.com are great for Boxsets.
I just spotted the Godfather Box set for €28

There are very few genuine DVDs on ebay. You gets what you pay for.
