When if ever will green bins take plastic?

Does anyone know if Dublin City Council are ever going to allow plastic to be put into the green bins? My parents live down the country and they are able to recycle roughly 90% of their waste including plastics and glass. I know some of the bring centres take it as this is what i do with it at the moment - however I dont think many other people do and unless the green bins take it then its just going to keep filling up landfill!!

Yeah, I know, i have the same problem here in Longford, the only things I can bring to the recycling bank are glass and drink cans. Same in Westmeath.

Which is a biatch for me because most of the potentially recyclables I use are plastic bottles

Well, I live in South dublin down the road from Ballyogen, where one can recycle practically everything so my mother recycles plastics there. In Marley Park, there is a facility for recycling plastic packaging too.

In the countryside, these services are quite limited unfortunately. I do think there should be a bin for plastics. Many elderly, disabled or people who just don't have the time can't recycle plastic which is a major problem considering most of our packaging is of plastic origin. Thus, plastic isn't the best at bio-degradading either.

Maybe the Green Party need to gain a few seats in the next general election.....
