    hi,

i was wondering if anyone can point me toward articles/posts or give their own advice on how to play the first few levels in a unlimitied rebuy structure, like the $55k on stars etc.

I want to play like a maniac which is opposite to my usual playing style.

    any help appreciated.

The most important thing is not to go into these tournies thinking u can get by without having to rebuy yourself. Expect to rebuy 2 or 3 times so dont think of the tournie as a $55 rebuy, think of it as a $165 game and then decide ur strategy. If u manage to get by on ur entry fee alone, then u've saved money already so its almost like a freeroll. Gamble for the first few levels coz u'll need to have a healthy stack to be able to relax after level 3 and then start to play premium hands hoping to double up against the maniacs that are still gambling

While you can get lucky playing like a maniac, there'll be a lot of maniac play already. So IMO playing tight in these is better and if your not stacked, play loose for last few mins of rebuy period. Fuzzbox is right though, go in fully expecting 3 or 4 rebuys.

    EDIT: Fuzzbox?? Flushdraw I mean

3 rebuys isn't even close for something like the 55k, you can expect to spend 100 or so. If you are being really maniacal and not running well, more like 200.

i am referring to the 10$r on stars and such tourneys where they guarntee 55k. Usually i am in for 3/4 rebuys but i think i am playing too conservative. will start playing these again, capping myself at 10 rebuys.

i think just playing loose in the last few mins is not really going to work, i will have a very small stack, a fraction of the bigger stacks at the table. they will call my raises, and call a push with any draw.

10 rebuys per level seems to be my average spend in those tourneys hence I avoid playing them. Target for the break should be about 12k. If you get to that level before the break you can afford to sit on it and only play premium hands. But, if you get a chance to win a 40k pot with something slightly marginal, I would take it.

EDIT: Its really a 20 rebuy due to the double rebuy so doing more than 200 in one tourney is not as sick as it seems. Although being in for almost 600 after playing 2 of them is pretty sick.

Gamble with shít in big pots and hope to triple or quadruple up. At least thats what I like to do.

For those big guaranteed games you've got ot look at the lower money placings and what they pay out. If they pay out X*buy-in then set that X should be the guide to the max number of rebuys. I know the plan is to win the thing but if you cash you shouldn't be making a loss on the tourney. With double rebuys you can rebuy twice in most of these from what i see, So 7 buy-in max.
