I set the resolution of my Xbox 360 too high when using the VGA cable and now I can't use it as my tv doesn't display that mode.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to reset the machine to the factory settings ?

    Thanks
    K

Dunno myself man, but you could try connecting to someone elses' monitor that supports the res so you can lower it? I kow it's not very helpful, but it's all I got! :o

    Reset Xbox 360 video settings
While the Xbox 360 is starting up, hold Y and Left trigger. This will cause the system to reboot and reset the video settings.

Never tried it , but worth a shot. There must be a solution , as this must be a common problem.

This doesn't work, where did you hear this ?

I just spoke to MS and they don't know how to resolve it either.

I managed to fix this myself by counting the button strokes to get me to the display properties and listening to the sounds.

It worked a threat and now I'm back to my lovely 1024 x 768 :D

Tell me about it. I couldn't believe that they don't have any sort of backup plan for this type of user error. I'm sure its a common complaint.

I just got a call out of the blue from the guy I spoke to earlier and he was just checking how I got on. I told him what I did and he was amazed and thought it was great.

Its mad that a huge company like MS have to resort to botton counting to reset a machine.

i bet you any money in a few dash updates there will be a fix for this. they will log these type of errors and will be sent to the dash development team. Ask them to call it the KTRIC patch ;)
