Well knocked it out in 1hr 13mins 30secs today (number 427)

Right ankle not great though, as have been out injured for 3 weeks with not much running (god the bike in the gym is sooooo boring when done for 60-90mins).

Half marathon in september and looking for a 1hr 35

Some of the my female clients who are doing NYC marathon in november finished in 1hr 40mins so not bad for first race.

Managed to get around myself in 1:12:something. Not too sure of my finishing time - are the results online anywhere?

Bit of an evil course really, having to tackle that hill on the Chapelizod side of the Park twice - but great training for the marathon in October I suppose. A great turn-out today, with decent running conditions during the race.

Didn't do it this year, I am trying to slow down for longer distance runs, but they are excellent times lads, congrats.

Went around in 1 hr 15 mins. Thought that was pretty OK for my first attempt at 10 miles. The uphill bits and the rain at the end were testing. The fact that it was a cool damp day made it easier than it could have been.
Think I'll have a go at the half marathon next month...

Good times there folks. Well done.
I went around in 1:25, I was happy with that. I started off slow, I was trying to pace myself, running 9 minutes miles. I felt good after the 3rd mile so sped up a bit. Last 2 miles were very tough. I'm still sore today.
I'm hoping for a circa 4 hour marathon in October, it will be my first one.

Wow, lots of runners here :)

I got in around 1:23 - 1:24.. forgot to stop the clock when I crossed the finish line in all the excitement.. Guess I'll have to wait for the official results to find out my time.

Had a stomach bug for a few days before the race, and I managed to keep my breakfast down on saturday so I thought I was over it.. But as soon as I got home I was hit by severe diarrhea.. Couldn't even keep a glass of water down!

Really scary stuff, after running for 10 miles I was dehydrated and whatever I drank got out in less than 5 minutes... Had to seek out the emergency GP here but luckily they put me on the mend. Almost ended up in a hospital :(

I never experienced anything like it, and I hope I never do in the future.
I'm back to eating solid food today..

I managed it in 1Hr 27. First 10 mile, first time I've run more than 6. Also found those last two miles tough, that hill the second time, and blisters, just made it difficult. Very happy with my time though, only started jogging in April, and my ideal was 1:30, so I beat that!

Half-marathon next, if I get 2:00 I'll be happy. Going for the marathon in October, I'll be aiming for 4:30. It'll be my first, and hopefully last marathon! Think I'll do well to get the 4:30, as I really didn't have much left after the 10 miles, and don't know if I could have done 11. Ah well, still have 10 weeks to go...

    Well done folks..

I'm the slowest here at 1hour 36mins. Having said that though, I was happy with my time. I usually run 5 miles in 45mins, so that's pretty consistant.

I ran with my gf up till the water station at mile 3, then tore off on my own. Made up a good bit of time, but a very sore knee, and a bad stitch in the last mile or so slowed me down a good bit.

Not too sure if I'm going to attempt the half marathon with my knee the way it is, but if I can get it sorted before then, then I'll give it a go. There's a guy in Dun Laoighre who will analyse your running, and recommend a shoe. I think Arnotts had something similar last week, but I missed it :(

Be wary of any off-the-shelf products or "computer-analysis", they're tailored for the general public, not your individual problem or style.

I can speak from experience here, I tried loads of different products, even self-diagnosed myself accurately based on the wealth of information I could find on the internet, and yet none of it really fixed my problem.

It's only when I went to physio that I got some real results and the pain went away. I had pain at the bottom of my foot, otherwise known as plantar fasciitis, and everyone will recommend insoles or this-or-that type of running shoe, but in the end my problem was my hip, nothing to do with the foot - but that's where the symptom was.

The physio cured the problem, by stretching and strength excercises for the hip, and never even going near the foot.

Just my opinion, but if you have a problem (and you mention the knee) you're better off seeing someone than falling for a sales pitch and possibly progressing your injury even further.

    .

That a good poing netman, I've always found the same thing. I wore orthotics for almost 10 years to correct problems I had, they ended up being a waste of time. Any issues I've had with knee and ankle in the past few years have been down to poor core and in particular really weak glutes. All long distances runners should incorporate a core program into their plan
