Need a Gym recommendation in Dublin City Centre

    Hi all,

I know there's a sticky on this already but it covers Gyms in the Dublin suburbs, and as I need one in the city centre, I'd like any opinions on the clubs located there.

Little background here - Basically, up to one year ago, I was going to the gym five days a week and I was in decent shape for my age (36 then, 37 now). I could run 5 miles in under 35 minutes easily enough and I could lift weights up to 40kilos which is enough for me as I'm interested in general fitness as opposed to muscle mass.

I was a member of Riverside fitness for three years as its just five minutes from my office. However, this place suffered from a lack of maintenance, e.g. at least half of the treadmills were usually out of order or the belts slipped when you went over a certain speed. I left this place thinking I could go for a run in the morning before work or in the evening when I got home. However, my wife had twins shortly thereafter and I was generally too knackered to go for a run in the morning and same in the evening. I've since put on 20 lbs in weight:eek:. Now that my six year old is commenting on my fat belly, I want to get back into shape. As I work in the Irish Life Mall, I don't want to have to spend 30 minutes walking to and from the Gym either (I used to be in Jackie Skelly's in Clarendon Street but I left it for this reason)

So back to the original question, has anyone got any opinions on Gyms in Dublin City Centre?

Failing this, is anyone a member of Clane Leisure Club in Kildare which is only 5 miles from my house and might be another option?

    Thanks in advance

    Dave
