S/E tourney: Old fella at the same table as Washout and myself, proudly claiming that he has never played before. You could tell! However, he was continually destroying the table, at one point he had about 50% of the chips. Now, it was sheer luck as he pulled some major suckouts, and if he knew what he was doing he would have had 80% of the chips as he only called 3 bets into him when he had the stone cold nuts, rather than raising back and busting the other players. He cashed out 8 scalps!! Without even making the top 15.

Anyways, that was background information. This post is what happened midway thru the tourney. This guys buddy, the one who brought him out on the night, busted out of the tourney relatively early. So instead of playing cash games, he came over and railbirded his buddy. The problem: He started telling the guy how to play hands(whispering). He even got to the point of turning the cards over for him. At first I didn't give it much thought, but then I noticed after I made a raise(and this guy was going to call) the railbird whispered to fold. The next hand after a raise the railbird did it again. He proceeded to "tell" him to call, raise or fold.

So the question is: what would you do?? I'll let you know what transpired after a bit.

I turn to the mate and in a loud voice say "I know its your mates first time in a casino but as you know there can only be one player to a hand maybe it would be better if you didn't sit there".

Any guff out of him and I'm calling the TD over.

    tell him to feck off.
on Wed nite when i was playing a regular good tight player who was short stacked went all in.it was folded to me on the BB and i had T8s and i was trying to figure out if i want to call or not.i took my time and looking at the pot and the amount i had to call and i was trying to see if i can find a call or not and this took maybe 3 minuts or so.
eventually i decided to fold .there was a railbird regular who obviously knew the player in question and after i folded he gave out to me saying "for jesus sake why the hell are you doing this to the lady letting her think your gonna call and then fold..." .he then walked away but not before i said loudly enough so he can hear "who the fock are you" .
i hate railbirds who get involved and im not shy of letting them know if they stick their nose in my business.

Say as politely as you can:

"Excuse me aren't you out of the tournament?"

As he answers, interrupt him and say "yes thats what I thought. Now then, could you kindly do me a favour and **** off and let your friend play his own game. Thanks"

Wait until you have played your button and co and then leave as if to grab a quick smoke
Go out to the car get your tyre iron slip back into the club and quietly
without any shouting or threats a quick smack between the head and neck
he should be pretty quiet after that

I am 100% sure that you can not get in trouble for this at least until you put the tyre iron back in your car

    Xllnt responses!

I metioned it to the TD and he promptly took care of it. I just wonder, should I have made a bolder statement to the table to let the rest of the table know the BS that was taking place(just didn't want to start trouble, only correct the situation). I retrospect, what I was thinking was my fellow competitiors should be apprised of the fact that they were being slightly "cheated" by the guy(both)!

I have on two occasions not said anything in similar situations but purely because whilst the newbie playing hadn't a clue how to play (and was therfore impossible to read or predict) the helping friend was just a brutal but thankfuly very easily read poker player. In one instance the friend had absolutely no poker face so I'd look at him and decide whether or not to rasie the their blinds each time. T'was great fun.

As for making a statement to the table that would be very low on my list of priorities. ;)

This has happened to me in the past in two ways:

    As a Player:
Would you ever just bugger off and let the man play his cards 'his' way.

    As a TD:
Excuse me sir. One player to a hand. Im going to have to ask you to leave the tournament area. Thank you.
