    http://www.gamejump.com

Its supported by advertising- so it might ask you to enable network connectivity when playing them- but the games themselves are free.....

It won't take Irish mobile nos- but it will give you the direct links to d/l the games from- either directly to your phone or as jar files to a PC (for transfer across by cable or bluetooth).

    Games look good.

    S.

Not sure the constant flashing "G" while playing is a good thing (in the game I downloaded, anyway)....

Errr- you'll need to bluetooth it over from your PC (or by data cable with the data suite)

Its far easier to follow the links and simply download it directly to your phone rather than going through your PC.

Re: flashing G- I have no idea. I downloaded "Ghost Hunter"- I get an add for some company before I ever open the game- but thats it, nothing else. I'd suggest downloading something else and trying it instead- its possible that there is a problem with either the flash file you downloaded, or alternatively, the manner in which your phone is dealing with it.......

    Just reading their FAQ:
Will my phone company charge me anything?
...these games will periodically connect to our servers, and that will use airtime...
but i guess that if they can't connect they still play okay and it's easy to break your own connection settings!

hmm yeah i noticed that you need to connect to start the game though but it does drop the connection after a bit! Im guessing that if will try to reconnect and if it cant then it wont play!

It says somewhere about the connection being for the purpose of downloading an advertisement at the start and end of the game. The advertisement is shown before the game starts up at all. Have not seen any advertisement at the end of the game though..... I've only downloaded one game so far- "Ghost Hunter" and am quite happy with it.

Most phones have a meter for keeping track of their downloads- this should show only minimal usage for the downloading of the adds (I imagine perhaps less than 5k).

So if it connects to download the ad, then how are the games free. Your are paying for the download...

They are paid for by advertising- which is a single screen (not animated or anything) at the very start of the game. I checked on Ghost Hunter earlier- the connection is less than 2kb in total. Strictly speaking- the games are not free- but having a single advertisement at the beginning of a game, versus paying a tenner to vodafone for a game you'll only play a few times before tossing- means they are very good value.

Free- as in the company are not charging you for the games. You do however have to pay for your connection- which is less than 1 cent by my calculations (I have a 2Mb monthly add-on).

If you are not happy- ignore this offer- it is really good value, but if its not for you- fine.

Lenny- if you check- you will see that the website wasn't even able to register your number, as its in the states. So you have *not* subscribed to a premium rate number or service (from this website anyhow!).

I do not know how you used up 18 Euro- unless Meteor charge an arm and a leg for downloading? The big thing about using that site is you can download them directly to your pc and thus not incur massive downloads for the games themselves. The advertising, such as it exists, is minimalistic in nature- being a single frame at the start of the game (I haven't seen anything at the end).

I suspect Meteor may have really really high charges for wap access for downloading the games in the first place? That is Meteor though (they charge stupid amounts for anything outside their network- or for anyone outside their network they have massive termination charges for putting calls through- which is why a lot of people won't call mobile numbers that begin with 085.....)
