    Hi,
Were off to Vegas on Saturday, staying for 8 days in the Flamingo so any tips, places to play cash games etc., best tournaments, what to look out for etc., etc., would be helpful.

    Cheers

Best of luck Smurph, I hope you enjoy yourself.

For cash games, Caesars probably have the best nearest the Flamingo. The 1/2 NL game is soft all over Vegas, but the higher cap (500) in caesars makes for more value. There's no cap downtown but the games tend to be tougher with more locals.

For omaha, the 2/5 game in the Bellagio is your best (and probably only) bet.

As for tournies, avoid the ones in Caesars like the plague - the structure is appalling. My favourite tournament was the one in the Mirage on wednesdays and thursdays - $230 freezeout, 3000 chips, fantastic structure. On sundays at 7pm they have a $430 tourney with 5000 chips and an equally great structure. Look around - there are some good value tournies.

Although I didn't play it, the Wynn's daily $330 freezeout sounds like the best tourney in vegas - 3000 chips and a 40 minute clock. that tourney is $550 on a friday. starts at midday though - that's why I never made it.

Best of luck and write us reports!

yes, best tourney is wynns $300 freezeout, gets 140 runners, least around wsop it did, great structure, 40 min clock, blinds start 25/50 and after level 4 or so it goes from 100/200 to 100/200 with 25 ante.
Average standard and around 18k+ for the win.
I think this tourney is on weds/thurs/fri (its 3 days a week anyway).

caesers is good for 1/2 although it plays more like 3/6 , very loose.

    have a good time.

go to the Bellagio for the buffet (and make sure you are starving when you get there!)

    oh yeah buffets.

Bellagio quality is fantastic although sometimes a little limited on choice.
You should check out the Rio buffet at least once - it's huge and most of the food is quite good.
The flamingo buffet is very good for breakfast/brunch - open until 3pm.
Reggie said that the Luxor buffet was also very enjoyable.

The buffets are just about the only thing that I miss about vegas right now.

Yes Luxor buffet was good, as was the mirage buffet, but I disagree with marq, the flamingo buffet was poor unless you stuck to fruit and cereal.

Caesars is a lovely pokerroom, and its right across the road. As said, the 1/2 games are pretty soft, and with a buy in of 500 it does add value. The only thing Ill say is you do still get some decent players. There is normally at least 1/2 difficult guys at a table. No big deal.... but just to watch out.
Honestly though... the softest tables I found were in the flamingo itself. They were full of complete tourists. Or else it was wannabes. And you gotta love those guys. The guys who try to make great plays but suck at it. Or love nothin better than making a great lay down... so u just play up to that. lol... unreal stuff. Its not really much of a poker room though, and I only ever played there on the way home :) Bally's is decent value as well.

The MTTs in Caesars do really suck. Its fine for a while, your tipping away doing okay.... when suddenly the blinds just start doubling up... I mean it goes from 200/400 to 400/800 to 600/1200. Nuts. Didnt play any anywhere else so can't comment.

My only advice is dont buy any drinks in the casino's as its free when ur gambling. Sit or stand in and around any machine or table and grab the cocktail waitresses and only tip them $1 the lowest amt the better as they'll think ur a local and they keep coming back to u all night and order wot ever u want. :D Plus when ur sick of the gambling get in2 any taxi read through the advertisment book they hv in the cars and rip out the $5 voucher for the Las Vegas Shooting Range. Doesnt cost for the guns just the ammo. Nevada is a fully auto state Uzi's, Ak47, Mp5's, M60's handguns u name it they have it. A grt way 2 spend an afternoon. Bring a camera as ur m8's wont believe u. HV n GL...;)
