The Galway Area MTUG (Microsoft Technology User Groups) are presenting the following talk next month.

Writing Secure ASP.NET Applications - Dominick Baier
    Thursday, September 14, 2006
    Begin time: 7:30 PM
    End time: 9:00 PM

    Summary:
ASP.NET 2.0 has a lot of good services to build secure and robust web applications 'out of the box', but you still have to be aware of the threats. In this talk we look at some of the most common vulnerabilities in web applications and how ASP.NET helps you to mitigate them. Furthermore you'll get to know the most important built-in facilities in ASP.NET for doing proper input validation, authentication & authorization and error handling & logging. Every developer writing web applications should be aware of this information.

Biography: Dominick Baier leads the security curriculum at DevelopMentor. This includes teaching and authoring courses about .NET, ASP.NET, WinFX, and Vista security. He holds a degree in Computer Science, is a certified BS7799/ISO17799 Lead Auditor, and speaks at various conferences around the world about application security. When not teaching he spends his time researching security, doing audits and penetration tests, and helping other developers around the world to build more secure applications. Currently he is writing a book about ASP.NET Security which has recently been submitted to Microsoft Press to review.

    Location:

    Harbour Hotel Galway at 7:30pm

Just to clarify, the 60 places is the capacity of the car park, not the event, as many as want can come.

    cheers
