    Hey guys,

I'm setting up an online magazine blog which will be aimed at Irish people (male and female). I guess you could call it a lifestyle blog, it will be split into four topics; Music, Culture, Style and Opinion (it may be expanded to feature more topics).

Why am I posting this here? I'm looking for a few writers to contribute a few articles/blog entries. You don't have to be a particularly proficient writer and experience is not a requirement. All that I ask is that you enjoy writing and that you are willing to contribute. You will have complete creative control over what you write, you can choose to write about whatever you find interesting. You will of course be credited for your contributions (with your real name or with a pseudonym if that is preferred).

Just to be clear, you will not be paid for contributing articles to the blog. The blog will not be a commercial venture, it will not have ads, it will not raise any money for me or anyone else. It will just be a hobby and hopefully we can attract some visitors as-well.

Please feel free to ask questions.

Ok, unfortunately I'm not getting much of a response for this.

In the hope of sparking up some interest in this I'm going to post a little teaser. Hopefully this will help people understand what the site is about.

    Here ya go: daveyjoe preview.

Anybody interested can now fill out this form: http://www.daveyjoe.com/interested

Thankfully, I'm getting some private messages from people expressing their interest. I would like to have a few more people on board though.

It looks pretty good, nice layout, etc.. I'd like to be able to help, but I suck at writing! Perhaps at some stage in the near future I'll regain my interest in writing, and then I'll try and get on-board ;)

    Good luck with it anyway

:) Hi Daveyjoe, just signed up yesterday and read your blog. I would be very interested in contributing to your blog Magazine. I have been writing for many years but never showen my work to anyone. So this year I promised myself that I would get invovled in summiting some of my work.
I read my work and think it's crap ( excuse the language) but I would like someone opion. So here I am writing to a total stranger and hope I can begin something good and see if I have as a writer ok.
Thanks and talk to you soon

    OK here's one:

What's the difference between pontificating for nothing on your blog and pontificating for nothing here?

Except that Boards seems to have more topics about which one can air one's considered opinions.

    If one could be bothered.

Best of luck and all that, but I don't see why you should try to 'poach' writers from here.

When the writer is currently on no kind of contract, and is being offered no kind of contract to write on another site (nor are they being forced to write for just one site and no other ones).... is that still classed as poaching?

Why would anyone write for your blog for free, its not like a college newspaper where people will write for free just so they can add another line to their CV. If people have content they wish to publish online they can make their own blogs.
Indeed by writing for their own blogs they might even make some money form advertising on the side.

Yes people can setup their own blogs instead, of course they can. Writers will retain the copyright to their articles, if they want to re-publish their articles on their own blog then they can.

There are two immediate advantages of this, over setting up your own blog:

    1. The whole idea of this is to allow people to work in a team, to collaborate together, to learn from eachother. There is a collaboration backend to the site (the backend will hopefully go live tomorrow) which allows people to interact with one-another and to bounce ideas off eachother.

    2. Hopefully the site will become popular and writers will be able to reach more people then they may have with a conventional blog. There are many great writers out there who have interesting blogs, but they may only have a very small readership.

On a more general note; I have to say that the interest in this has been very good and I can't wait to work with those who are interested. I believe that this can work if there is a steady stream of good, interesting articles.
