LCD monitor advice

    Hi

I am planning to upgrade from a 15" CRT (cheapo) to an LCD 19". I am not a gamer, I will mainly use it for general surfing and some amateur photoshop type stuff. My budget is about €250.

I am looking at something like the following:

    Samsung 920N 16.2m colours D-Sub(VGA) 700:1 contrast ratio for €210 from Komplett - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319600

    or the LG M1917S 16.7m colours D-Sub(VGA) 500:1 contrast ratio for €245 - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323180

    or the Benq FP91G+ 16.2m colours DVI 550:1 contrast ratio for €229 - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=314421

For good colour reproduction is it a must to go for 16.7m colours with DVI inputs or are the above OK?

Do you know of any other models within budget that I should be considering?

    Cheers
    Dara

S-IPS based screen for 24-bit colour.
That's just the panel though, it still has to pass through the manufacturer's hands, and depending on the accompanying electronics they install, things can vary between makes.

Most of the monitors that I have come across are of type 'TN'. As far as I can tell the S-IPS ones are much more expensive. The LG one that I listed below I assume is TN also. Komplett list it as 16.7m colours but the LG website lists it as 16.2. As I am by no means into professional photography will I really notice the difference between the 2?
