Myself and my wife, both of indian origin are planning to visit Galway , Connemara, Aran islands. We prefer to do the visit on 8,9,10 of Sept - 1 day each at 3 of these places with 1 night stay at galway and 1 night at Aran islands. From Dublin we would travel by train to galway. The rest we dont have a clue.

Could someone share their experiences on their visit to any these places like which all places to visit, which one to avoid, where to stay cheap, which mode of transport, which tour operator etc.?

Amoung the various aran islands which one is the best to visit?

    Hi there,

Galway City is a great spot and you will be sure to enjoy yourselves there - very compact City with most attractions within walking distance. Good restaurants and live music too.

It's pretty easy to organise trips to Connemara and The Aran Islands. A few companies do day trips from Galway to Connemara and they can be booked through the tourist office (which is on Forster Street near the train station) or in various ticket offices in the City.

The Aran Islands are amazing, and there is a great new company which does private bus from Galway City Centre and ferry crossing over to the islands (www.arandirect.com). The company is also owned by the islanders - always nice to give something back. Accommodation on the islands can get pretty booked up so definitely try and book in advance.

Don't know much about accommodation in Galway City as I normally stay with relatives when visiting Galway, but there is no shortage of B&Bs, hostels and hotels in Galway.

    Hope this helps

Would any one suggest some good b&b's at galway? Which among the 3 islands would be the best place to visit - i prefer some wildernes , woods etc. Also would there be any problem with language as i read people in some islands speak irish only?

Which place would be the best place to stay at night Connemara or one of the islands?

you HAVE to stay at Sleepzone hostel in Galway. Was voted 3rd best hostel in the world by readers of hostelworl.com. Don't settle for anything less!

Inis Mor is great. Villages, etc and all the wilderness you can shake a stick at. Plus you can hire bikes and head off by yourself. Er...don't expect too much woods. it is the west of ireland.

Dont worry about language. actually i think that maybe on inis oirr they dont speak a lot of english. Its hard to dock there when the weather is bad (often) so they dont get anywhere near as many tourists -hence the lesser level of english.

I beg to differ. Inis Meain (the middle island) is definately by far the most touristically untouched (touristically? Did I just make up a new word)
It is a great place with only one real pub where you should definitely make a stop off for the night. There is one hotel (a total of 13 rooms) and various b+b's. If you were to stay on Inis meain I reccommend staying in Wilma's B+B I'm not sure of the actual name of it, but when you get off the peir its the second road on your left and its just there on the right. Wilma is a Guatamalen women who married a man from the island, the b+ b is also a great restaurant.
