I want to change an upstairs timber window to match upvc windows of the rest of the house.I'd like to know the process of taking out the old and replacing with new and can it be done from inside.it's about 5 foot wide x 4 feet high.thanks

It depends on how the original window was installed, and how much disruption you are prepared to tolerate.

In older houses the brickwork opening is wider on the inside than the outside and the window sits behind the exterior leaf of bricks, you would have to replace from the inside.

many newer houses have the frame in the outer leaf of the wall, you can replace from the inside but more awkward as you may need to manovure the frame through the (smaller) plastered opening before fixing.

Check supply and fix prices with window companies and compare with supply only.
