    Alright lads.

( read my sig before you read below )

I took the plunge and bought my conroe today ( E660 ) but i need some advice with a few parts. Im not happy with any of the motherboards out there. i know i could go for a 975 board and flash it, but its not guaranteed to work. So any ideas on a better board then what im planning ? Also the ram i picked, im happy with 2gb but im thinking of going one step extra and getting 4gb. Im fairly happy with the Gfx card, as i am a nvidia fanboy :( and the soundcard is being salvaged from my other pc. Ive also gone for 2 raptor X's, Do ya reckon i should raid them ? or leave them alone. I already have a 74gb raptor for my primary hdd. And i have a few 250gb spinpoints for music and movies, but i was thinking i might just caddy them up. But the bigest dilema is what case ? as i want something different. not a lian-li not a coolermaster stacker. and deffo not one of them nzxt cases.

    Cheers lads.

    **EDIT**

Mod can you move this to the overclocking/tweaking forums aswell please ?

I can move, but it will be a move and not a copy. Your choice. I'm happy for it to remain in comp/tech.

And for future ref, use report post function to get posts moved/deleted/edited. You'll get a faster response.

    Edit: Post number 4000. :D

    Phys X accelerater? Why?

Besides that, Conroe board choice is limited so you cant really pick and choose there.

2gigs is fine, 4 gigs is a pain. Untill 2gig single sticks become realativly cheap its not worth the bother as timings are scewed.

Lian Li, Ftw. the pc1100v case's are the best I have ever seen in terms of noise and build quality. If your not happy with that take a look a the mountain mods case's. Other then that, it will be like sticking a V8 in a mini cooper for the majority of cheap crap that sells out there.

Not at first any way :p

cheers robins. will leave it here i think.

Well I have an Antec P180 Case.

Love it, LOADS of space and well, loads of space.

Initial setup aint the easiest, as the power supply placement takes a bit of time to get right.

    Top class case though!

I'll have a Lian Li v2000 for sale shortly - cool case :)
Apart from that I like the Akasa Eclipse, the P180 is supposed to be a bit finicky with the hard drive cage (i.e. it's noisy).
Don't go with 4GB RAM unless you plan on running an x64 OS, as it's barely supported.

I have the akasa eclipse and it is a dream to work with, tonnes of space and surprisingly quiet. It also cools really really well

Just got my rig together and take it from me the thermaltake armour is a lively case to work in. loads of space. makes it easier to attach those fiddly little connectors. :D
You got no need for 4gb ram. You'd never even use half of it. 2gb is fine like every1 else says.
Oh well, back to work for me. :D
