TG4 - Incorrectly cropping all films

Has anyone noticed that in TG4's switchover to widescreen they have recently begun cropping all their films to 16:9? Not only are they cropping classic films made before widescreen was introduced like The Prisoner of Zenda (1937) but they are also cropping their old 4:3 P&S tapes of 2.35:1 films to 16:9. As a result films like Westworld are almost incomprehensible due to the fact that only a tiny rectangle of the films original composition is viewable, and naturally the quality is horrible due to the zooming.

Normally I wouldn't be bothered when a TV station makes this kind of a cock up, but TG4 show such a great range of rare films not available in any other format... I really hope they come to their senses and sort this out.

Everything seems to be in 14:9, for some reason.
There is talk of them going to widescreen, but why everything in 14:9? Its odd.

I only have analogue, is it only 14:9 on digital too? The decision to crop the films would makes even less sense then...
