Extra info at scalps games

Probably my favourite game is the Fitz Friday night scalps. I've only started playing it a few weeks ago and am really lovin the buzz in the place.
Something I've noticed is the extra info thats available in a scalps game, for instance say your table gets broken up deep into the tourney and your moved to a table mostly full of opponents you haven't played with yet that night, most stacks are above average. I feel you can tell straight away how a guy is playing purely from the amount of scalps he has, and adjust your play accordingly. Last week there was a guy three seats in front of me with an above average stack, but no scalps. When he comes into a pot in early position you can narrow his range right down and tighten yours up. Other end of the table three behind me is a guy with chip lead on the table and 11 scalps, obviously his range is wider and so you can loosen up against him. I found this helped a lot, and made me a lot more confident on my reads.

Thing is though, most people have average amounts of scalps, but there were a few who had a good bit above and a good bit below average, making them, I feel, easier to read.

Anyone else noticed this or anything to add?

Was mulling over this very subject this week and making similar conclusions. Played the Greenjokerpoker scalps game tuesday night in Drogheda, and finished fourth without picking up a single scalp along the way. Would love to hear some learned thoughts on this.

    Excellent post BTW :D

You can win the friday night scalps and end up with two scalps.

I don't think it should be used as concrete info on people you haven't played with before.

Wow, an insult and a compliment in one post!!:D

Only kiddin Snapper, thanks for the above.

Ntl's right, this shouldn't be used as concrete info, but it's info all the same, and my one gripe about the Friday fitz game is that at later levels the structure is extremely fast, average stacks are usually about 10 - 15 BB, so you don't have a lot of time to evaluate a player, every little helps.

I know plenty of people that put any scalps they win straight into their pockets. not much help for you in that. I see your point in a way but be aware of that too, you only have to keep your own scalp on the table.
