Hello, I've read the stickies because I'm sure this must of been asked before but can't find the answer I'm looking for

I’m looking for a bit of advice in regards purchasing a new camera, as I use it for work I want to make sure I get the right one. I mainly take indoor photos so a wide angle lense would be required but unsure what to look for. It would have to be a digital camera shoot and click as I load most photos on the web and edit them. I also take a lot of photo close ups.

Anyone who can point me in the right direction were to purchase a camera would much appreciated

Is it a compact you're looking for? Or an SLR?

Compact wise, check out the Ricoh cameras.

    What'd be your budget?

If you need wide angles, a full frame sensor on a DSLR is what you're gonna need.

sorry to hijack the thread, but has anyone with a 'prosumer' fuji such as the 7000,9000 found any good wide & tele lenses?

Go to>Ebay>go to>search>go to> canon fisheye and look for the russian ones...

Or google russian optics, they make a lot of them with Canon mounts.

Or..If you have a lorra money... Sigma fisheye followed by Canon fisheye...if you have a lorra lorra money.

Seen it being passed about a few times before, so it must be some way alright.

If I were you I'd save up for this: http://www.rugift.com/photocameras/peleng_fisheye_lens_for_canon_eos.htm

Bear in mind that the 16mm will be multiplied by 1.6 for your Canon sensor, so your fisheye effect will be less dramatic! (16 x 1.6 = 26ish? 8 x 1.6 = 16ish?)

How does the multiplication work? I'm going to get settled with my new zoom lens (whenever it arrives; its shipped, but its been sitting in a depot in Germany for three days according to their tracking), but I definately have my eye on a fisheye for my next purchase.

How would filters work? Screw-on adaptor?

    Cheers :D

Filters pop into the back of the lens, most lenses come with three, a blue, red and green I think?

Mulitplication works as I posted! 16 x 1.6 = 26ish? 8 x 1.6 = 16ish? Guess I shoulda made that a bit more obvious rather than random maths on a page. Basically, mulitply the focal lenght of your lens by the size of your sensor, in your case 1.6.

With fisheye however, the effect isn't as dramatic the longer the focal lenght - I take it you want to get the trademark fisheye features yeah?

If you get a chance, and you see a fisheye adapter, pop it on the front of your different lenses. You'll see the effect at shorter lenghts is much more dramatic than anything over the 25ish mark!
