    Hi all,

I just wanted to reccomend a guy that did our wedding video. I have no links with this guy whatsoever this is a genuine reccomendation for a guy that helped us out and did a brillant job. I found his ad on the adverts pages here under texanman. I contacted him four days before the wedding due to another guy pulling out.

He agreed to do it even at such short notice. I didnt want to post anything until I saw the DVD which he brought up to the house last night. The quality is perfect and the lay out is just like any commercial DVD, with chapters and menus. He captured everything we wanted and put in some really nice touches.

During the day we barely noticed him, he never hassled us for certain shots but still managed to get some really nice ones. We had agreed with him to stay until about ten o clock but I dont think he left until after one as he wanted to get certain things recorded all at no extra cost.

I have seen other video men at weddings and this guy just seemed to blend into the crowd. He was lovely to deal with and myself and the wife are extremely happy with the DVD. He is based in Laois but I am sure he is willing to travel within reason.

I will give his details here but if anyone wants to ring me for further details if you pm me I will give you my number

    His details are:
    Patrick Lynam
    Ashmore Productions
    085 751 4530

    Thanks Pat

If there's recommendations to be offered, can I give ours? www.richardgill.ie did our wedding video/DVD and was just brilliant. MIL didn't even know we had a video until we handed it to her... just shows you how unobtrusive he was.

He was charming, polite and most importantly, produced an amazing record of our day

Me and my hubby are married almost 2 years now and we still pull out the wedding DVD... It's that good!! Just watched it again over Christmas and have been intending posting about it!! The job was so well done and we were able to pick out the music and everything... I wasn't mad on the idea of a wedding DVD per sé but when it arrived I was quite taken aback that I actually enjoyed it!

The guy who did is called Paul and he has a website http://thestudio.ie

Have a look anyway and all enjoy your respective days!! It flys by!!

    Hi folks,

Any more recommendations? Need someone in the Dublin / Leinster area for this July. Is €1500 really the going rate??

    thanks,

    Eoin

Fraid so! It sounds expensive until you actually look back on it and you realise how important it is as its your only moving memory of the day. Its something I wouldnt scrimp on as a bad dvd is a BAD dvd and youll be kicking yourself every time you put it on. I know of people who got an uncle to video their wedding and the whole thing is a disaster esp bec he only took vids of his family and none of the brides!!!
Look at the link I posted earlier www.thestudio.ie you can add them to your wedding list if you have one that way your guests can pay for your dvd as your present - happy days!!

    Jotter,

thanks for the advice - think you're dead right about the DVD, no point trying to save a few bucks there. Left a message with that crowd anyhow, I'll see what they come back with.

Its tough to choose the right one. I used to work in the whole corporate video area and some of the wedding video people were technically dreadful - you'd be handed 3 hours of shaky footage and bogey sound.

That being said there are some great videographers out there - but a lot tend to get booked up very early.

I was talking to a guy recently who normally works in film/tv and he was talking about starting to do it. I'd say he'd do a good job and wouldn't be booked up yet. Don't know for sure, I'll mail him and check.

Advice I'd give - Make sure you check their reels. And everyone claims to have broadcast quality equipment - but its the skill level of the cameraman that matters.

just to chime in here, we used http://www.dreamscapes.ie/weddings.htm last year. They are a 2 camera setup and very discreet - never asked us to move/pause for specific shots but captured everything. They do a B/W Montage at the end which is pretty cool - and enough not to send people running when the DVD is brought out :D

My boyfriend and I just got engaged. He is a professional editor with an TV station and has filmed a number of weddings (I coordinate the whole thing as I am wedding mad and he does the rest!)

Anyway, if anyone is looking for a good deal in these recession times or maybe a wedding supplier swap (I'm looking for a cheap band!), PM me! He has loads of samples if you're interested. We're based in Dublin.

    €1500 :eek::eek::eek:

Jeez is that right im getting married next March and really wanted to get something done on dvd but theres no way on earth id pay such a price, half that would be the absolute maximum.

Im living in Donegal and seen some reasonable prices for the type im interested in. More of a cinematic style of capturing the shots rather than just stand and shoot with a gentle merge to the next scene.

I think there would be alot more work for the videographers if their prices reflected peoples finances these days.

I know a guy in Donegal that is really reasonable. He lives in Inishowen. PM me if you want any more details

Well... 1500 is a big money, BUT the price depends on quality. I was working in video production studio for four years and sometimes we asked even more, coz (for example) costumer wanted his wedding video to be stilyzed like "Lord of the ring" movie )))) So we had to put some conversations, fragments from movie in their wedding video. We also made entire titles in 3D (golden ring with their names burned from fire). Shooting also was absolutely different - we had to find a place that reminds that movie, color correction, music... it was a big but very interesting job.

Wedding film is not just a chronicle of your wedding. It`s a beautiful selection of the best moments and it shouldn`t show chronology of what happened )) (of course, it all up to costumer) It should be like a dream that was written on DVD :). (for "chronology" I usually burn all unedited video on DVD. So finally costumer have 3 DVD - original video on 2 DVD and 1 DVD with wedding film)

I have a few samples on VIMEO. You`ll find them if you`ll put MIHALNA in search.

I never hand out an unedited DVD. It can lead to a headache afterwards.

Of course if camera was forgotten to turn off or something like that - thees moments will be cut out :))
But if shooting is professional - it`ll never lead to a headache (IMHO)

The main reason I don't hand out unedited footage is that changes to the original edit may be requested once the unedited footage has been viewed.
It could be any shot. It not a case of..

I have handed out unedited footage and regretted it afterwards.
