The Killers - Sam's Town We get the first whisperings of a return from Las Vegas's The Killers.

Although the precise date and venue have yet to be cofirmed hotpress has it on good authority that The Killers will play Dublin in October as part of a European tour.

The jaunt is in support of Sam’s Town, the outfit’s sophomore album, which was unveiled at a New York media gathering last week and by all accounts blows Hot Fuss out of the water.

Along with the title-cut and lead single ‘When You Were Young’, the collection features ‘Enterlude’, ‘Bling’, ‘For Reasons Unknown’, ‘Read My Mind’, ‘Uncle Jonny’, ‘Bones’, ‘My List’, ‘This River Is Wild’, ‘Why Do I Keep Counting?’ and ‘Exitlude’.

Joining the band on the bus will be multi-instrumentalist Ted Sablay.

“He’ll be for us like Pat Smear was for Nirvana,” says guitarist Dave Keuning. “He’ll play keys, guitar and sing a little bit. It’ll help us match the live versions a little closer to the album.”

    Go Hot Press rumour!

blows Hot Fuss out of the water.

Not too difficult. Hideosly over-rated band and really hope this is a flop and then we never hear of them again

You've got to be joking, Hot Fuss was a really strong album, their real problem is trying to follow it up and maintain the momemtum and fanbase which will be difficult.

I just despise the Killers! Theres a lot of music I dont like, just like anybody else, but only two bands I actually really hate in this world...Killers and U2. Cant see them maintaining this momentum. Its always difficult after a big first album. Can seee the same for Arctic Monkeys

    Hahahahahahaha

I would not be a huge fan of the indie genre but they are one of the worse bands.

The Killers have obviously proved themselves as a good indie band.. well I suppose the next album will be proof or not but Hot Fuss was pretty good

Were have you seen them live ? I have seen them a couple of times and they were AWFUL ( OH and i am a Fan of the Killers ).

I agree. Their live shows are boring and uninspired. I saw them twice last year. The crowds reaction is generally pretty good but they didnt do anything other than play the songs note for note.

here and i went to see them in london. i know bands like that can be totally hit and miss (have ye heard of a and called ladytron? icky live in my opinion whereas i found their recorded stuff ok..theyre very electro based) but i was so blown away by them and i thought they were brilliant. i have no shame in saying my favourite band..but i totally respect where you're coming from as we cant all like the same bands all the time :)

the killers arent the only band that play note perfect gigs. ive seen franz ferdinand a good few times and they're shows never seem to be any different but i still enjoy them.

Ah i missed them last time they where here, so ill go if they come...

tbh, you cant compare playing at a festival for 80,000 people in a huge stage to say, the point.

they're definately more suited to somewhere smaller and inside..

aye, the point would do... the ambassador would be a nice venue, but probs to small for them....

would go to see them in the ambassador..they could easily do a string of dates there i reckon but for a one off gig the point is the place really.
argh! so gutted i wont be able to see them

will totally go see them, actually think an acoustic/new material set would do them the world of good, playing the new stuff...then switching to acoustic for the older hits...and then finishing with a few electric numbers, would be utterly fantastic to see as ive always taught the 'Hot Fuss' stuff sounded better acoustic.
