Philips DVD recorder for 99 looks decent.
I can't see this item for €99, it's €149 on the web site now. It would be a good deal for €99.

You must be looking at the Sony DVD recorder which is 149, the philips one is below it and is 99 !

Got one of those philips dvd recorders for girlfriend for birthday when full price, they're not bad but very very VERY step learning curve to get them working, the recorders menu is not the most user friendly by a long shot so buy with a warning!

Seems to be some good bargains :

The Philips 23" HD LCD TV/Monitor for 599 seems fairly decent ?

Says 'HD Compatible' not 'HD Ready' - so not such a good deal IMO.

Yes, why wouldn't it be? once it supports dolby digital through at least one optical input, then yes.

Not much help, but maybe you should ring all the stores you are willing to travel to?

I'm sure they can let you know over the phone

Dunnes Stores had an add on todays Star for a 26" Philips LCD, HD Ready for €699. Looks like a really good deal. I have the 23" version and it is a great tv. Got mine off eBay for €500.

As far as I can tell, no optical input on the €129 Sony model, v,hard to find the specs anywhere though.
