Recording sky programmes to PC

I have sky+ and I wondered is it possible to re-record a couple of films I have stored on the digibox onto the PC and then back them up on to DVD. I know there is a USB slot on the digibox but is this what its for.

If its possible to do this can anyone tell me (in fairly plain language) how to go about it.

The PC and digibox are about 4 metres apart (12 - 13 ft)

    Thanks

The USB slot is not for that purpose. Don't think it has a purpose currently, it's just there for future ideas.

The data on the Hard Drive of Sky+ box remains encrypted so even taking the drive out of the Sky box and into a PC would be fruitless.

The only way to move the content to PC at the moment is if your PC has a video capture card, which you'd connect to a Scart output of the Sky+ box.

cheers byte. I had this mad notion in my head that if I just ran a USB lead from digibox to PC then I could just do a backup with a couple of clicks. It looks like I will have to hook up the DVD recorder again

it was quiet a hassle for me

i had to buy a dvd recorder (after buying sky + which i thought would solve my problems) then put the stuff i wanted on sky + onto a disc then put that dvd disc into the computer and save it there, though most of the time i never put it on the computer once it was on dvd i was happy
