Hi all, I waited 2 years to catch my horse "Spirit" lying down and when I went to see him on his holidays today he was lying down in the field, couldn't believe it. Got down on all fours and crawled in futher to catch him. Got to within about a 100 feet before he saw me.....

Lovely! I'd give a slightly tighter crop on the bottom though!

It's a fairly hefty crop a is, but yeah probably will

Beautiful creature - gorgeous picture. The foreground doesn't bother me hugely but it would look good with a crop.

Great shot.I think the crop conveys the sense of secrecy you say you needed in order to get the shot and it works really well for me.Well done.

why don't they like people approaching them when they're laying down! I tried to photograph a nice scene i came across with a pony laying down but nearly kilt himself getting up when he saw me!!

    nice shot btw

and here he is, i should have taken a few shots as he was staggering about after his hurry to get up :)

Horses are by nature very wary - in the wild, if they lie down, they leave themselves open to attack.

Nice pictures all - love your horse Borderfox - love seeing totally white (or should i be correct in horse terms - grey) theres not many anymore.
A foal I used to look after used to lie down till I came up to her then got up and turned her butt to me for me to scratch it lol!!! :) miss her :(

Thanks, yeah they seem to be very wary of people. There is one horse in the yard who always lies down and you can go into his stable and sit down with him. It's something else to be in the stable with such a big animal lying down. Thanks for all the comments :)

I am pis*Ed but sane none the less, I was bitten twice in my life ,once in the face by a dog that tried to attack my mother ,when I was 4 or 5 years old and by a horse when I was 13 or 14 while I tried to feed it , I still like horses but I know they like their privacy. Great photo.
