    Just wondering how long the commute from terenure to DCU would be on the 16 bus, anyone doing that commute at peak times ?

    I came from Rathfarnham every (well most) days during term and it took me around an hour on the bus and a 10/15 min walk into dcu from the bus stop, so it'd take you maybe 5mins less. If you were in for 9 I'd get a bus around 7:50 and you should be in on time. Became a bit of a pain in the arse for me over 2 years, especially if I only had one lecture in a day!

    I live in terenure and go to dcu.
    Basically you are better off purchasing a 7day student travel card from the shop opposite st. josephs (€16.50). Then getting any of the buses into town from opposite josephs, dont recommend the 65's cos they go down georges street and its packed in the mornings.
    From Westmoreland Street (last stop on all 15's) then get either the 19a, 13/13a or any 11.

    That means you get 4 bus's a day which is tiring. Peak times is between 1hour 30mins - 2 hours.

    I tried the 19a from the KCR at the beginning of first year but it took ages and was packed. Dont usually get the 16/16a because they are irregular. And also leave you a bit from the college while the others leave you on the ballymun road which is leisurely 5min walk. :D
    Hope it helps

    Get a job rent a flat in the area. Far easier!

    Probably the best bet, getting that bus everyday really did make college so much of a pain! Or you could get a moped, fly there and back everyday i'd reckon.

    If I had to commute I wouldnt have gone to college... seriously. Dublin Bus are the devil.

    That being said with an MP3 player and a good book it can become a lot more barable.

    Two times a day, everyday? Jesus...

    Job -> flat/house -> Happiness tbh.

    I can't imagine living at home while in college anyway. :o

    I travelled from Templeogue to DCU and it took anywhere from 45mins to 2 hours at times. The worst mornings were the 9am lectures...if I got the bus at 7ish I was in DCU way too early but if i got it at 7.30 I barely made it on time... I gave up on lectures altogether by the end.

    Moving out this year so I don't have to travel anymore(and other reasons), saying that I got used to the bus journeys with my mp3 player and it didn't bother me that much.

    One more thing, living so far away is a bitch for drinking in the DCU bar/friends apts, unless you have a friends place to crash in.
