Need to access my hard drive in Dublin

Hope this is in the right forum. If not please move!!

I have my computer hard drive with me but my computer is still in another country. I really urgently need to access some graphic design files I have on the hard drive (I thought the computer would have been sent ages ago but hasn't been) and wondered if anyone here knows of a place I can take it to, to get the files.

Perhaps on a dvd or onto my thumb drive, though I think they are too big for that. I am in Swords/Dublin. None of my friends here have computers that I can use to access it.

    Any help is appreciated.

Go to a pc repair shop with a blank Dvd, it will take them 5 minutes.

Oh thanks I didn't know they would do that. Cheers!

They'll charge you for it mind. Prehaps a boards user in Swords will offer to stick it in their PC for you and copy files onto a CD or something.

Ahh yeah I didn't expect them to do it for free. I only know people with laptops and they wouldn't appreciate me opening them to plug it in I think.
Would be nice if someone would offer but I really don't mind paying for it from a shop. Now to find a computer shop.

Pick up a case or x (IDE,etc) to USB convertor and use your friends laptop? (It still costs, but at least it's more of an investment and a case would help protect the HDD until you go home/get your PC)

Yeah...I'd second the idea of the usb case for the hard drive. That way you can get the files off at any time.

Peats or maplins will have a usb case to suit the drive (just bring the drive with you, unless you know it's specifications (ide/sata and 2.5" / 3.5")).

edit: marx computers also do the enclosures....http://www.marxcomputers.ie/

That's a perfect solution actually as I have 2 harddrives. Thanks people!

Yeah I agree, we should do this indeed.

Can we buy it in a shop instead of online?

You can drop into marx computers. They're in fairview, so about a 20 minute drive from Swords. Peats should also do them. Or maplins.

I'm in Malahide and would have no problem throwing the discs into my rig and burning to DVD.
Give me a shout if I can help.

    :)
