    Howya,

Sorry if this if a double post or has been mentioned before... Just delete if so.

I've been flicking through a few airsoft threads, as I play myself.

Some people want to just play in the woods or wherever.
Personally, I think this will be a sure way to get it banned again.
Imagine 'normal' people just strolling in the woods and some dude in full cammies pops up in the bush with an Armalite.
First thing they will do is ring the cops. Ever though it is legal, it will put airsoft in a bad light, especially if the 'media' pick up these stories and start a crusade on it with all the associated nonsense.
Just wait till a site opens, play on private property or go up north for the time being.

    Cheers,

    KutjeBef

Couldn't agree more, and if anyone is dead set in playing in the woods at least inform the gardai about it and see what they have to say.

I reckon there should be a zero tolerance policy on airsoft in public places, any idiot seen running around a housing esate or the like shooting his mates should be arrested imediately.

I also think that anyone under 18 should not be allowed to possess airsoft guns without the supervison/permission of an adult. This would be fairly unworkable i suppose but im sure it wont be long before some f**king idiot gets airsoft into the headlines for taking his mates eye out. This is the kind of publicity that will get airsoft banned.
Imagine walking through north inner city dublin where the local 12-15 year old scangers are now armed with airsoft pistols instead of vegetables. I guarantee it wont be long before this happens and theres a backlash in the media.

We need to learn the lessons from the uk, otherwise we'll end up in the same situation they are now in, fighting to keep the sport legal.

first of all it IS illegal to walk around brandishing a replica weapon that is why i would never do it, thing is there are idiots that do this sort of thing. a teen was shot and killed by a cop in americabecause he was carrying one in public and hed painted theend, he was told to put it down and didn't so they shot him.

I being 14 are very biased.

I think that a notice should be put up at the woods entrabce if someone was to be using a BB gun as a warning. A sign just to say: "BB gun users at this location" with a permission slip from the cops

There should be "airsoft gun days" imo, where a group of youths in correct supervision wearing correct protection in a decent location with a few spectators, the prize being an airsoft gun. Days like that would be an advantage to a community in every way. At least there's supevision

Myself and my friend play in my large garden out the front, have a shoot-out with no protection. I have being shot *near* the eye(within 2 inches) many times. Its just an accident waiting to happen.

When you say under 18 year olds not allowed use them. i would have to say that there are over 18 year olds that aren't responsible, responsibility is more important than age ;)

Gardaí are obliged to confiscate items resembling any weapons. This includes a replica of a gun or an item that can do the same damage as a gun. Its part of the Public Order Act. Though once clarified to be a legal object, it must be handed back within 24hours of confiscation

In England, one reported to have a weapon, Police will actually shoot you dead to comply with anti-terrorist measures. This includes a bulge in your pocket or being seen held with ammo. I won't take that chance for sure!

    No Supervision/Responsibilty, No Safety.

my cuzin and i have had shootouts in his house wit .6j pistols, yeh sure, it was stupid, but we wore ski goggles and the whole lot to protect us, nevf, u make an excellent point, its like when people go hunting they put up "deer stalkin in progress" signs, i think thatwould be ideal, you get the sign with it, and put it up on the site you are playing, it would be a sufficient warning,

If you plan to go playing with friends and running around with all the gear on and practising etc, do so on your own private land!! If you land is not big enough ask a farmer nicely and get his permission written down and signed, photocopied and given to all your friends, ensure that the land owner understands what your doing. Never go out in public carrying a gun, use the gun case thats whats its for and dont say to a person on the train "You'll nver guess whats in my bag". If you are challenged hold the gun out in fron clearly to see both hands, arms outstretched like a zombie, then say the the nice police person "im turning to safety, removing the mag and setting it on the gound" act good and dont get upset as they are just doing their job. If you have permission with the land owner show the letter and ring up the landlord. inform that officers that you have permission and show evidence. if you have a concellied weopon lioke a pistol in your holster tell them what your doing as like before. DO ALL THINGS SLOWLY, BE POLITE, DO NOT RUN AWAY, DO NOT ACT OFFENSIVE OR AGGRESSIVE AND STAY CALM. If you are arrested go along with it as you have nothing to fear unless you have no permission to do what your doing of course. If a person stumble across you while walking the dog and the run off dont chase them just put the stuff on the floor and stay there maybe walk over to them if you see them first to explain, iff they get aggitated dont be agressive towards them just talk calmly.
