Is it a nice area? Much crime? Cheap etc?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm goin to El Campello, which is further South than Benidorm, in about a week. My aunt lives there, so I've been goin since I was pretty young. We usually take a day to go to Benidorm, cos there's a big market there every week.

El Campello is a lovely area, but Benidorm is... not... lol :p I don't mean to get ya bummed out about it, but the place is just full of yer typical, mainly English, scumbags, with big dirty gold chains and tats all over them. I don't find it pleasant at all, and wouldn't go there for more than the day. I'm not sure about how much crime there is, but I would assume it's the same amount as most similar places (ie. tourist areas)! I never noticed anything too dodgey about the Spanish there (although steer clear of the 'magicians', etc. on the side of the street! scammers), or indeed about the English -- we'd get chattin to some of them and they're a laugh, etc. -- but the atmosphere isn't nice IMO.

That's just my opinion, maybe you'll enjoy it, the night-life is fairly good indeed, and there's lots to do.

Pay a visit to Ray's Fish & Chip place while you're there, they do lovely food!

Enjoy, I'm sure you'll have a good time regardless

Cheers for the info DaveMcG. Will probably give it a go anyways as i got a week off work and need a holiday. And will keep Ray's in mind.

Anyone else got any opinions on it? Good or bad.. don't mind!

EDIT: Just did a search for Benidorm in past threads and got some well.. an understatement to say poor reviews...

I was there last year in March.. I found it a bit different to other resorts I'd been to.. It's more metropolitan for want of a better word.. And the locals seemed less friendly and less willing to accommodate English speakers.. For example in shops most of them will speak only Spanish to you whereas in the likes of the canaries where they depend a lot on tourism and most of their jobs revolve around us tourists they will make more of an effort... That my take on the place anyway... Lovely beaches and good clubs tho... Although most of them were very quiet when I was there, but it was not peak season...
