im looking for a new pair of boots.

now i dont go hill walkin, mountain climbing or trail hiking.
however, i have been looking at boots on the internet, and i figured this was a good a place as any to see what advice or recommendations people had.

at the moment i have an really old pair of cat boots, which have served me well over the last 6 years, but they are in need of replacing, and i want a nice new pair of boots.
im not so interested in the fashion side of things.
i need them to be sturdy and light, and preferrably made of leather.

ive been looking at stuff on the web, and the thing that appears to come closest to the sort of thing im looking for are either
    this:http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ishop/877/shopscr477.html
    or
    these:http://www.fieldandtrek.com/src/ukwm/cat_id/FOOTHILL/product-Brasher-Supalite-GTX-Boot-12263.htm

if anyone has any recommendations, or can take me away from my path of bootwear ignorance, id greatly appreciate it :)

I have worn Meindl Boots for the last ten years - 2 pairs in ten years and they have been through some very heavy duty stuff. I wear them Mon - Fri except during very hot weather so they definitely are long lasting.

They are heavy but once you get used to them they are fine. Never had wet socks or cold feet in them

Both times I bought in The Great Outdoors but they may be cheaper online.

There are many different varieties but the two I have had are
    Meindl Island
    Meindl Army

Sadly WWM is based in London so Great Outdoors are a little out of the way. I will say that going into a shop gives you the obvious advantage of trying them on before you buy - but any good outdoor shop should be able to custom fit them to your feet anyway. Try them on and then buy them online is another option :)

well, i will defiantely check out the Meindl boots.
i will probably pop into somewhere like millets or ski and rock and have a peak about.

really the important thing for me is that they are leather, they are really light, and they are comfy.

will let you know what i look at etc.
