    Hi,
I had heard so much about this famous "Chief Brody" Guy from the posts of the Sporting Emporium, and then spotted him in the Fitz a couple of times. So heres my story, went into the Fitz €100 game last night, it is a new format with €100 entry and 1 top up or rebuy. Anyways sitting down for some dinner before the game starts and he sits down beside me and we get chatting. I ask him his name which by the way is "Anto" I tell him my name is Colette but everyone calls me smurph its a nickname. He then says "Yeah i have this Salmon jumper and was wearing it in the S.E. couples of weeks back and some guy says aaah you must be the Chief, Chief Brody, I know you by the jumper.

So i start laughing, to which he replies "Whats so funny and who is Chief Brody". So i try to explain the whole Jaws story and how he is the spit of the guy who played chief Brody. Please note that at this stage if have a roaring red face, and look as guilty as hell. Then he says "I didn't think i looked like a copper.

Then he asks about the "Salmon Jumper" and what that mean't. Now at this stage ive indigestion and haven't even started my food yet. Then the vision that is Eamonn O'Reilly came over for a chat, so the conversation moved. Phew.

    Hi Collette,

I was the one who told him all about his fame on boards on Friday!

he's a sweetheart and I hope he becomes a regular in the Fitz. And he is the SPIT of Chief Brody ala Rounders123's picture! it still cracks me up!

    however.....

he knocked me out of the tourney last night on a wild move!

the blinds are 400, I have 6000. I call the flop with 5 others with pocket nines.
the flop comes down 8 6 5 rainbow. under thegun the chief bets 1500. Now i think i'm ahead with such an aggressive bet so I reraise to 3000 just to see where I stand. I'm willing to let this hand go if he goes all in but he reluctantly calls. Now I believe he's got an underpair with an ace or possibly suited connectors and is aiming for a straight.

so the turn comes down a three and he checks it. I go all in for another 3000 and he calls. he's got 6 4 offsuit. he needs a 6, 4, 3 to win. I guess he thought a seven would be ok too but in fact would give me the higher one.

the river is a 4. two pair beats me. I've have been harpooned by the chief!

i'm still stunned thinking about it. I made him chip leader. I wonder how he did? anyone know?

anyway, great chap, I hope that any comments by our younger readers directed towards him will remain pleasant and positive and not ****ty like the kid at my table who, after the chief was beaten in a hand said in a smirky loud stage whisper, 'And this guy is supposed to be famous?' Pure smallness.

What this smartarse kid doesn't realise is that he's a marked man now, not because the chief holds a grudge, coz he's not that kind of person, but because he annoyed me and I collect grudges like Ollyk collects scalps!

    6,4! :D  :D

Ive always found the Chief a pleasant character and a dangerous opponent albeit a touch fond of calling with mere overcards.

He has a pretty big hand in the afore mentioned incident.

    Here's a real picture of Tony/Anto/The Chief

and here's a picture of me when he was finished with me!

and you're dead right jtsuited, he did have a hand, he is very dangerous, very loose and not to be tackled with unless you're carrying a .38 snub nosed police special!

i cant belive i have heard so many stoires about the chief and only now since i seen that bloody picture do i know him! lmfao! i have my own chief bad beat also... probably the worst i have ever recieved in the fitz.

raised to 7 preflop 5 callers so i call with 44.
flop comes out Jd4d2s, first position bets pot, the chief raises to 120e and i re-raise all in for 150, folded to the chief who calls. i show 44 he shows the monster that is..... 3s,4c. turn 5s, river 6c.....

the Chief is a very nice fella (albeit with dodgy taste in sweaters) and it's also great fun to watch him wreck the heads of all those he plays with!

when he runs goooot and hits his draws he is virtually unstoppable, when he runs baaaad he is a walking talking ATM :)

Totally agree Doc, he is a pure gentleman, very funny though that no one, and I mean no one had told him why he is called Chief Brody. He also looks like one of the mob guys from the sopranos. I played in the Drogheda game and sat beside "Eddie the Eagle", who ran over the table like a steamroller. Priceless. He had the table sussed by the end of the first level. Class. What I think is brillant is that you can read all the books, check pot odds, decide x + y = %% blah blah, up and down gears, squeeze play etc., etc., and then The chief will play the cards his way and win. Thats what makes Texas holdem so good. The brillant thing is that you cannot put him on a hand, He could have AA or 2 9 offsuit, :p:p

Now I know i type this with with a smile on my face, even after getting my first penalty points for "Dangerous driving" and getting given out to by Garda who looks about 12 years old, oh and while he is writing out my ticket cars are pi*sing by doing way over the speed limit.

The Chief was playing in the cash game with Martin who said that he cleaned out a couple of English lads, who left the table looking quite puzzled.

The Chief joined my table when we were down to 18, and immediately started
to berate players who were not "brave enough" to chase their flush-draws.
I exited in 17th when my 88 ran into QQ, and then flopped a set!
El Chief followed me 5 minutes later and sat down beside me at a cash game.
He then donated €200 or so to the table.I would have had it all if I had been "brave" enough to call his bet with A 2 on a A Q 10 board.Anyway it didn't matter as he missed his draw and left. I played on at the cash tables until a very tired looking smurph demanded that I bring her home at 4.00am.
So I told everyone I was going,as I had most of their money!,when I played my button. Then came the pot of the night, chinese guy tries to raise utg but forget to say "raise",3 callers, then sb makes it 15,BB folds, chinese guy calls, folded to me on the button,so I call as it's my last hand. Flop is 933,sb bets 65,china makes it 150, smurph comes back
over to see if I'm leaving, and I go all in for 280,sb eventually calls, and so does chinese guy.Turn comes 9,and river a 4. SB turns over QQ,chinese guy turns over Ac,Kc and I turn over 9 3 for a pot of 750+,and myself and smurph ran out of the place. (Thanks Larissa, you're some dealer ! )
    Martin.

In my experience he isn't 100% gentleman, unfortunately. Maybe we just have conflicting personalities? He sure knows how to run over a table!

I was in the S.E tonight. Chief Brody was on the table next to me and i was hearing people openly addressing him as Chief Brody. It was funny but its a bit sick now the cat is out of the bag. Its like Bigfoot being discovered over at the Hendersons, it cant happen.
One fella asked him "Chief do you remember the time you blew up the shark!?".

"Chief do you remember the time you blew up the shark!?"

I'm actually laughing so hard that i just put $40 into a $4 pot online instead of $4.You're back rather early Rounders. Not avail of much Cash game action?

Unfortunately the Chiefs reputation got the better of him tonight in the SE. He only got moved to the main table, sat down near the button and played 1 hand. I had Q 10 in the BB and it was called around to me. I checked. Flop came A 4 J. Checked to the chief and he bet 15. Folded to me and i called ( I wouldnt usually but i've played with the Chief many times and i know he can't help betting once theres been a few checks infront of him ) The turn came a K giving me the nuts and i checked.Brody bet the pot (42) and i made it 125. he pushed all in for about 160 and i called. He actually had A 4 and the look on his face when i flipped Q 10 was heartbreaking! No help for the Chief on the river and he left, no reload, no banter, no nothing.. Actually felt sorry for him for a minute because i dogged him but i think the phrase "what goes around, comes around" sprang to mind. Really nice bloke though and always a laugh
