Saw 'The Hidden Blade' on dvd last night... thought it was excellent :)

Same director (Yoji Yamada) as 'The Twilight Samurai' which I thought was an exellent film too!

Speaking of sword movies... if you haven't seen 'Azumi' I highly recommend it... good to have a girlie as the topdog for once..!

Did a review thread on it for the film forum. It was just released in the USA and started playing in OC last Friday. "Azumi" surpasses Kill Bill in body count. Although the sword play looks realistic with kills occurring in one or two strokes, was wondering when she stopped to sharpen her blade? It appears that these recent Asian MA films suffer from what early shoot-em-up western films had decades ago? They had six shooters that you never had to reload, and Azumi could slay a whole village of bad guys without having to sharpen her samurai sword.

Both those films are grabbing my attention at the video shop lately but i've not gotten round to them yet. "Twilight Samurai" is a modern classic I reckon with 3 of the best sword-fights since "Yojimbo".

For more gore though (and less "realism ")you can't match "Lone Wolf and Cub" series for sheer style and volume!

I don't get you...It's a film... based on a manga character... they don't show her doing lots of stuff. It's a good story, great action and it's funny too... that's enough for me! Have only seen half of Azumi 2... it looks good aswell, though was a bit slow to get going!

I thought I was being funny? Oh well, back to humour school...
