hi guys, really need some opinion
Basically I'm looking to get a car soon..
needless to say, it'll be the first car..
I prefer a smaller car.. basically in the hatchback range but not too small such that it's in the Aygo range..

Engine range idealy should be in 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 due to insurance..
I don't think mileage really concerns me as much..
Price range that I can afford is about 10K.. 12K would be stretching it..

    My option seems to be:
    Renault Clio
VW Golf (MK5 is too expensive but MK4 is fine)
    Toyota Corolla (Slightly too expensive)
Peugeot 206 (Unlikely - Kinda more of a woman's car IMO)

What do you guys think?? Which should I go for?
Is there any boardie that own one of those car and can give a quick review of what they think?

I think I have my heart set on the clio despite thinking the car is slightly smaller than all of the above.. but that help scoring some points when it comes to parking right?

At the moment I found a 02 clio, 55K miles, showroom condt, 1.2, usualy airbag e/w etc for 6950EUR

Any opinion welcome.. Sorry about the long thread

The Focus is no bigger than the Golf or Corolla.

There is nothing about a clio that says mans car tbh. Personally I wouldn't spend that amount on any renault :o.
A volkswagon (except passat unless its the new model which is probably out of your budget, or the boro). Now a hyundai coupe would be nice.

Well just been readin on the review on the net about clio..
It seems that they are not the most reliable car around..
Have the tendency to break down really often..

    kinda starting to like fiesta..
need to find more info on it..

what about a 3dr astra hatchback?
    or nissan almera?
tonnes of civics about for that money. all reliable and they dont get the bad insurence premiums they used to have. I've a 3dr 206 1.4L. haven't had any problems with it since i got it, 6months. and its quick enough for a 1.4. Not as girly as the clio IMO and thats not because i have one.
focus hatchback aint a big car.

You could also check out a skoda fabia, not a bad resonably priced car and reliable too.

priced tdi insurance? (or just believing the ancient cliches). what about a leon tdi. no self respecting person who has 12k for a car is restricted to fiestas. i'm so sick of hearing about fiestas. there a nothing car.

The Mk1 Focus Saloon has the same interior dimensions as the Mk2 Mondeo. My uncle actually measured it for some strange reason:rolleyes:

I don't think the OP is restricted to Fiesta size cars but he or she may simply not have a desire or need for anything bigger than a Fiesta. Small cars are very popular because of their associated low running costs.

206 are decent enought cars but it's more an image thing I think

womans or not, a car is a car

I drive a 206 myself and Im male

    2002, 13000 miles, 1 previous female NUN owner - 9000 euro!!!
the interior is the best i have seen in cars for this year, type, price range etc.

i have to say, i like the 206 and have liked it since it came out, saying that id only have a 3dr one in black or navy as its "soft" enough as it is without that skyblue paint. i think the fact its a french car turns some people off.
just to ad again, i think its a little bit less girly then the clio.but even then i was going to get a clio myself only i couldn't aford to insure a 2L. i got mine for €6000 for a 01 with 50000 miles. also a spotless car besides the usual light scratches and swirl marks on paint. nothing t-cut wont cure when ive time.
