I'm looking to purchase a customized American Fender Stratocaster standard or deluxe preferably with a hard shell shaped case.

I would like the following customisations and am looking for advice on where i could purchase such a model or where i could find a place that will cuztomise the fender.

    What I need.

    Colour: White/Blue
    Neck: Rosewood

Seymour Duncon double coil pick up fitted in bridge position

Flyd rose or similar tremlo system with locking heads fitted.

    Action and intonation set.

I've looked on fender website but they dont seem to offer customised service.Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

I know its not white or blue but your going to have a hard time trying to find one that is unless you go Fender Custom shop and pay around 8x what this would cost you. You can then bring it into somewhere like Musician Inc and get a seymour duncan humbucker off them and get them to wire it in.

what beecher said, plus you could sell the emg for a few bob too, i mean its a pretty nice find and i dont think your gonna be able to find anything close to it for a long long time if you let it slip.

I'd recommend you get a highway 1 strat...

They have American wood and Mexican metal/electrics. Since you are replacing these anyway, you might want to buy a strat that wont break your bank. Plus you wont feel too guilty bout getting rid of the mexican parts, although, they are still quite good.

I have plenty of good guitars and the highway strat is my favourite.

Only thing you might not like about it, is the paint job is a lighter transparnety type thing. Good for tone, but can chip easily. Which i happen to like, but some people dont.

So get a highway from thomann or wherever

Buy your parts online from www.axesrus.com (free delivery to ireland)

Get a good luthier to do the labour.

    .

The new highway 1's have a proper finish (including blue but I dont have a pic of it) and I believe they are cheaper now too.

Routing a floyd for it may cost a bit though, not to mention the €200 for the floyd trem.

Is eBay a complete no-go area? I haven't looked for the guitars, but I have just ordered a Floyd Rose for around 60 euros and pick-ups are thoroughly reasonably priced, too. I just bought a SD Custom Custom for my Strat copy and was shocked to see how much cheaper it would have been on eBay.#

On a completely other eBay-related subject, what's with all these cheap Chinese guitars?? Are they completely worthless as the price often suggests, or just remarkably cheap, even after postage and that?

Avoid anything from China on ebay. What's being sent (and I speak from experience here) is cheap, ****, low quality, counterfeit garbage. I had a transaction with what I thought was an American user but their account had been hacked by a Chinese, got my money back even before the counterfeit ****e arrived on my door. Walk away.

Back on topic, I wouldn't recommend a Highway1 here, if the OP is looking for a Floyd then the routing required to get a Floyd in there will make it totally not worth his while, good and all as the guitars may be. They still use the 6 screw trem, rather than the more recent two point trem, so lots of drilling and routing would be needed to get a Floyd in properly. Not worth the grief, end of story.

Sorry to drag this thread back up, but I found the highway 1 strat which comes very close to what you had been looking for.

They claim to have it in black, pewter, or chrome silver. I almost bought this off the musicstore webpage last year but they sold out, and never replaced them. IIRC, they were selling for €7-800 so worth e-mailing this crowd about the price. They usually price their gear fairly.

Ive dealt with Chris a few times solely through e-mail, real nice guy. I find if you have a subject title with your email stating that you will buy it as opposed to asking questions about it he answers a lot faster.
