IPOD:Question (Have songs on iPod I don't want to lose)

Hi Guys My sister recently got an ipod nano as a gift with songs already on it and i have used the disc and istalled itunes on the my laptop but when i connect the ipod it keep telling me it dosen't recoginise the ipod and i ask me me the format therefore deleting all the songs. now i don't want to do this and i wondering…

Read the FAQ for more info.
Get the music on to the HDD. Format. Copy back over.
