Was looking at this online, looks like it could be loads of fun. It's in it's third year but definitely looks like it's growing well!

    The Festival

Seisiún na hEireann, a unique Irish festival of Traditional Irish Music is celebrating its third anniversary this year. The festival entails a Traditional Irish Music Competition, which is due to take part in the picturesque village of Quin, Co. Clare, Ireland on September 29th– October 1st 2006

The Festival prize fund includings €5,000 for the outright winner, €1,000 for the best overseas entry and several runner cash prizes. The Winning Publicans also receive a plaque for his/her winning pub declaring it's status as Winner of Seisiún Na h-Eireann – Best Trad Session in the World. Sessions will take place in the pubs of Quin over the course of th weekend.

Previous year’s entries have boasted up to 22 groups of famous and upcoming musicians representing traditional Irish music pubs all over the World. The village comes alive with the best traditional music in Ireland for a full three days culminating in the final session which many have branded the highlight of the festival.

In addition to fabulous Music Sessions in all 4 pubs all weekend, there will be jam-packed itinerary of musical and non-musical entertainment taking place in the Villlage. Friday night commences with a Concert of local junor talent in the Community Hall. On Saturday there is Huge ART & CRAFT Exhibition taking place in the Communty Hall. Guided Historical and Archaelogical Walks will leave from outsite the Abbey Tavern at set times during the day and in the Centre of the Village, several hundred Yellow Ducks will be released onto the River Rhyne for a Fun Duck Race!

Following 11.00 Mass on Sunday with a Traditional Irish Music flavour, a 10K Fun Run will kick off from outside the Church. Following this, we have The Fun Community Games on Sunday afternoon and also the unique spectacle of a Horse Drawn Vehicle race commencing from the Gates of Knappogue and finishing at Quin Cross.

The organisers have already accepted entries for the September event and plans are underway to promote this at music festivals around the country during the summer months.

The duck thing looks like a nice touch. Why do they always have masses at these festivals though? Surely every Irish village has a mass every sunday anyway!
