Windows Defender, Zone Alarm, Spybot and/or Ad-Aware would be a good choice. Norton is your AV as well yes?

Don't go for Northon or McAfee. I recommend these:

    Anti-virus: AVG free
Firewall: Kerio (30 days free, then you loose some of the Advanced features)
Spyware: Windows defender beta, Spybot search and destroy & AD-aware (i use all three, what 1 doesn't find, the other will)
All are free which is great
It'll take all day to get all on dial-up, but worth it IMO.

If you have Windows XP, make sure its updated to Service Pack 2. There is no harm in having more than one anti spyware program as mentioned.

We have a forum somewhere where you can ask for software(legal) to be burned and sent to you if your on dialup.

I find zonealarm free, to be a very easy to use firewall, leave alerts on for a few weeks cos it will ask, do i allow, this program to acess the internet, click, remember this setting. You can go to netcafe download progs demos, onto usb drive, theres 1gig usb drives for sale,in phone shop ,opposite 2euro shop, moore street.23 EURO is the price there.

i use spybot and etrust anyway and when etrust runs out might go with adaware think ill go with ZoneAlarm Internet security Suite but as far as i know they use etrust as anti virus is it any good i know etrust pest patrol has picked up things spybot and norton missed

I use AVG Plus Firewall Edition and Hitman Pro 2 for malware. When I run into serious trouble i use HijackThis.

I second Kerio. It's basically free, because all the advanced features are better done through Firefox extensions, or annoying anyway. ZA can cause hassle on lans.

After following this thread I d/l'ed Kerio to try.

It fails the leak test from grc.com,which my now ageing Sygate passes.

Needless to say I have removed Kerio

I have tried numerous firewalls including Kerio not so long ago and went back to Sygate even though its not supported anymore. Still works better than the others I reckon.
