    Hi,

I bought my pc at Christmas. It’s a Fujitsu siemens scaleo P. It’s a great machine but is really noisy! I was thinking of replacing the fans to try and shut it up! Any know which ones I should buy??

    Cheers

[strike]Has it always been as noisy, or has it got worse?[/strike]
    Clean the fan?

Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo P= P4 (From PC World , around xmas anyways;) - I wondered why it looked familiar...).
They're noisy things - I don't think another fan will have much impact on the noise issue.

Is there a gpu? gpu coolers are usually noisier than cpu coolers. Open case 2 find out which fan is makin the most noise.

This isn't a safe or advised procedure but its what I did. Just stop each of the fans 1 at a time and see which one is making the most noise. Are you even sure its the fans making the noise?

I had to fix an old fujitsu siemens computer for a friend last weekend and the Hard drive was making a god awful amount of noise. Can you pinpoint where exactly the main source of noise is coming from.

When a Laptop gets hot it turns on the fans. Some laptop run hot all the time, but all of them get dusty inside over time and it blocks the air going through them. So sometimes blowing out this dust with air, or cleaning it allows the Laptop to run cooler and thus quieter.

[Edit]oops - thought this was a lappy for some reason [/]

open case, take out case fans, measure them, 80mm ? ya. Go online, get new replacemant fans, install them. quieter ? ya !!

    Same with cpu fan.

If you find its the hard drive or something else theres all sorts of noise absorption materials available for your computer parts that you could try as well as replacing the fans.
