I am in my office at work.( a school)
I went to the jacks and locked myself out of the room.
My keys and phone are there. I'm in my kacks and a t shirt
I am supposed to leave to get a boat at 8 in the morning.
the guy i'm going with on the boat is ringing me to meet him somewhere.
    What should i do?
seriously at the moment the only option is to smash the internal window get my keys and then go home.

    please any ideas ????

Find some wire and pick the lock? Is there any utility room open that you can find something to use?

Why are you walking around the school in your underwear?

Smash the window - leave a note - i.e. here's what happened - will pay for the window. If they sack you for that then you don't need to work there anyhow.

    QED

Are the door hinges on your side or the other side?
Look at the structure first before you smash a window. Is there some part of the door you could remove or pry off instead of doing big damage?

Knew a guy who got locked INSIDE his office once. It was hillarious! Maintenence had o remove the window beside the door to unlock it for the guy.
Everyone laughed at him for weeks!

Is there a phone any where else in the building ou could use? You obviously have computer access. A phone nearby??????

That's a last resort for when terrorists take over the school.

Can you not just forget the keys and phone, get a taxi and go back to your home?

OK. think if you are not risking the terms and conditions of their insurance - you should do this anyway.

By smashing the glass and you are not introducing a security risk - then do it - once you are willing to pay the glazers bill.

Can't predict how employer will react, but if you are above board you can go the radio-route. ie. Joe Duffy show etc...

    Are you joking?
    Are you a teacher?
If I had a friend visiting......I would never sleep in work?!! Don't you have a sofa or a chair or a floor at home???

Anyway - if you are serious........
What sort of lock is on the door?
Have you tried to shoulder it in?
Do you have the phone number of the guy you are going on this boat with?
What sort of implements can you get your hands on?
Wire/thread/something long and hard and thin like a knife.....?
Do you have to get the boat? This all seems very suspicious.........

Is there not a caretaker you can ring?
Surely someone else has a key? Maybe it is worth ringing them up.......else, presumably, you have nowhere to go, and are barefoot and trouserless in a school.

    Else...............smashy smashy!

actually i live 5 mins from school. my frienis asleep in the house plastered. need a chip on my keyring to open main door. no doorbells. i'm living in finland.
remember i'm in my lovely st bernards jocks so worried i'll get lifted walking home or worse in my kacks throwing stones to wake my friend.

Hinges are facin you? Then find something to pop the screws up through the hinges and open it that way!

Gosh! i'm a Gal and I could do it. Just find something hard like a kitchen knife or something and start tapping on the screws upward. Screws out, door is free. Push.

no cant take door off the hinges.

one of them strange keys similiar to a car key. i think its like the that for the main door .
    this door seems simple.

If it's a school then it stands to reason that there are a number of fire extinguishers floating about. I propose taking one and charging the door in question at speed.

Bummer! Sorry then, I have no other ideas but to break the door. Maybe wrap your hand in your lovely st bernards jocks first so you don't cut your hand?

LOL! Wish you had a video camera!

Should do the job alright, cover your face to avoid any shattered glass and you should cover your hands too if possible.

If you hit it in the middle it'll smash pretty easily. I'd throw it myself to avoid glass related injuries.

hit it there. 4 times with extinguisher medium strength
    hasn't broken .
    should i keep trying ??

Full strength..you could even try running and then leaning your weight into it. Just be careful you don't land on the smashed glass on the door frame if you do.

the glass is beside the door, not in it ( if u get me ?) . my plan is smash glass. crawl in through the space and then enter the room.
    its double glazed i think

recenty i had my head trapped in a fence.
what i did was log on to boards.ie and make up a ridiculous story and have people give me advice on what to do.

Set fire to the bottom of the door, let it weak the wooden and then throw the fire extinguisher through it. Once you're through the door you can then use the extinguisher to put the fire out.
    Good plan imo.

Have you tried googling for 24 hour locksmiths in your area?

Last time someone locked themselves in my office I had to get a locksmith out. It wasn't 3am though.

Yeah and that attracts the fire brigade, who break in the door thus freeing you.
    Works out well imo.

Would there be a coke machine nearby? try tip it over on the door. The width of the coke machine maybe wide, but if the corner of the machine hit the door it might be enough to open it. :o

P.s. it almost time for that backup heh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Oh I've just thought of another idea.
Block the top of the fire extinguisher and then set it off. Let the contents build up, and when theres enough pressure aim it at the window and unblock the nozzle.
Should take off like a rocket and go straight through it with any hope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

find a finnish forum like boards.ie, post the same problem there, ask one of them to translate the following for you:

I AM LOCKED OUT OF MY OFFICE, BE A MATE AND UNLOCK THE DOOR FOR ME, SORRY ABOUT THE UNDERWEAR.

Set off alarm, hand security the note with above written on it
