Just got a bonus and now a decision to make.
Is it xbox 360 for longevity or a new graphics card???????

I am leaning towards the console at the moment, what do the boards reckon.
Have a look at my sig for pc specs I think a x1900xt would work wonders but how long would it last before the next upgrade.

 There's life in that old dog yet. Get gpu. Xbox games are E70 new. Pc less than half thet. FEAR expansion pack comin nxt mth. You'll get more use out of pc. Unless you got hdtv u wont get ful effect of xbox. just my thoughts....others may differ. :D

THE only thing bout the ,360 ,is not many games out ,cost 70euro each,100,s of games out for pc,you can get games like fear ,cod2 30euro approx ,though xbox live is great if you can afford broadband and a hidef tv.LOADSA game demos now being released thru xbox live.FOR 500euro you can buy fast amd64 pc base unit ,use your old monitor, mouse and keyboard.I don,t think cod2 on the 360 is significantly better than the pc version.

em... i'd consider putting a portion of that bonus into a new PSU, the x1900xt at peak pulls around 150w's and the rest of that system looks pretty power hungry as well, especially if you are overclocking. I'd err on the side of caution and go for a stable 500w or 600w PSU. Which will give you some room to OC and get the best performance out of the machine whilst still staying stable. Is that PSU an OEM BTW?

    Cheers for the replies,

As i feared a new gpu would need a new psu and then I would be itching for a conroe cpu and I'd be speeding a bomb again. I am going to buy a console and get a hdtv next year and probably begin to upgrade too when cash flow is healthier.

Used games for the xbox will save some $$ and I will go for a bundle with a couple titles included.

Thanks again for your input lads

ps I do have BB so xbox live is a clincher too

Xbox360 is the best option for you atm. No point upgrading pc, with conroe, vista, and dx10graphics all out, or on there way out soon.

Plus, the 360 has some amazing games coming out between now, and the new year.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with either. Go on holidays. (no, seriously).

edit: The PC seems like a reasonable spec, and I'm not a big fan of consoles.

lol, I learned the hard way what having a weak PSU in your system can do to your hardware. So I try and warn other people away from making the same mistake when I can. I used to think it was the least useful piece of hardware in a system as it doesn't really increase performance. But then again theres a lot to be said for stability which a good PSU gives you.

But i'd probably agree with others and go for a 360, keep an eye on adverts.ie, some great deals for a 360 with games usually come up every now and again.
